"Harry, I honestly don't know how to believe that.." I say quietly. His face falls and I hurry to correct what I've said. "It isn't that I can't see it.. because I can. I just- I've forgotten how to believe it."
Realization crosses his face and he nods. "I'm going to show you how to remember. I'm going to make you believe it if I have too." a look of determination appears and I know he is serious.
"You know it'll, take a lot of work, right? I'm stubborn." He nods and starts to smile. He begins to lean in and I freeze as he turns his head and kisses me on the cheek.
"I won't hurt you, okay? I promise." I nod carefully and watch as he removes himself from above me. He stands up and reaches his hand out for me to take. I do reluctantly and let him pull me up. "Wow.." he says and I look down.
"I'm sorry if I'm heavy I should've gotten up on my own, I'm sorry-" Harry cuts me off by picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder. I start screaming as he walks back across the street and up his driveway. He opens the passenger door of his car and pulls out his key, setting me down in the seat, closing the door, and locking me in. I glare at him through my window and he just chuckles. I roll my eyes as he walks over to the driver's side, unlocking the door and getting in.
Harry's car is a Range Rover, so when it roars to life, I feel higher up than I am used to. To be honest, I'm a little scared to ride in the same car as him. The last time, I was in a miserable state and didn't know who was driving until we had come to a stop. Before I can say anything to protest, he is pulling out of his driveway and we are on our way. I close my eyes as my mind travels to the events of the last few days. Things have been absolutely crazy.
"What're you thinking about?" Harry asks me and I open my eyes to look at him.
"Everything." I say simply. I think about Rosie and what she would think of me now. I have changed so much in the past year since she died.
"What is everything?" He asks curiously and I smile a small smile.
"Rosie, and how much I've changed in the last year. Hey, can I ask you a question?" Harry turns his head in my direction for a moment before facing the road again, his eyebrows furrowing.
"Love, you can always ask me anything." I nod and think of how to ask. He distracted me for a moment when he said love and actually sent shivers across my skin.
"What do you think Rosie would think of me now? I've changed a lot in the past year and don't want her to be disappointed.." Suddenly, Harry turns on his blinker and pulls over onto the side of the road, out of traffic. "What the HELL Harry?! What're you doing?!"
"You need to listen to me, okay? Wherever Rosie is at the moment, I know she is proud of you. Why? Because I am. Because I can see how beautiful and amazing you are. I can see how much love you show others and how kind and caring you are. Because you are all those things, and I know one thing for sure. She loves you no matter what because you are and always will be her sister. Her big sister, okay? She will always love you no matter what. I can promise you that." I nod as tears roll down my face. Harry reaches over and wipes them away before putting a piece of hair behind my ear.
"Now, I want to show you something okay?" I nod as he pulls back onto the road when he's clear. We drive for another five minutes until he exits and pulls into an abandoned parking lot. He gets out and runs to my side, opening the door for me before I can even get my seatbelt off properly. I smile as he helps me out of the car.
"Close your eyes, love." I do as told and he leads me to who knows where.
"Don't let me trip." I say seriously, but he just laughs. I roll my eyes mentally and continue walking. About fifteen minutes later, Harrys stops and lets go of my hand. The sparks immediately disappear and I listen frantically for him. I feel his hand over my eyes suddenly and relax.
"When I lift my hands, open your eyes, I want you to get the full dramatic effect." I laugh at his corniness but nod. Soon, he removes his hands and my eyes shoot open. I look ahead of me and my eyes fall on a beautiful wall covered in writing. I take a step closer and begin reading them. They're quotes.
"These are quotes." I say more as a statement than a question.
"Not all things turn out the way you want them to at first, but you just have to be patient and never stop trying." -Anonymous
"We came together underneath the stars above,
What started out as liking, soon developed into love
I sense a certain something that, in my heart,
Felt so true that I knew I waited all my life to fall in love with you. -Anonymous
I look over at Harry who is smiling like a little kid on Christmas. "This is your quote, isn't it?" He nods, and my mouth drops about a mile into the earth. No, but really, Harry never ceases to surprise me.
I smile at him and look at the others. I match his handwriting and read them. Every quote on that wall is beautiful and I find myself tearing up.
"Legend says, when you can't sleep at night, its because you're awake in someone else's dream." I smile at the beauty of each quote and soon I am on the last one.
"The simplest explanation is almost always somebody screwed up. Arrogance has to be earned. Anomalies bug me. Humanity is overrated. If he gets better, I'm right, if he dies, you're right. Everybody lies." -Gregory House
I smile as I read the last quote, it being from a TV show I am all too familiar with. Rosie and I used to stay up late at night watching HOUSE marathons on a regular basis. We would blame our tiredness and sleep deprivation on not sleeping well.
I turn around and walk up to Harry. I hug him tightly and pull back slowly. "Thank you so much for bringing me here, its so beautiful." His smile widens and I raise an eyebrow, a bit confused. From behind his back, he produces a Sharpie marker.
I smile from ear to ear as I take it from him and kiss him softly on the cheek before running to the wall. I ponder over what quote to put.
To refuse to let their life slip away...
Write to save another day...
Love is the movement...
On her arms should be written...
Arms to help because rescue is possible...
When I finish, I step back to admire my handiwork. Harry walks over and stand behind me with his arms around my waist and his head on my shoulder. I tense up, but relax after a moment, knowing that he won't hurt me.
"That's beautiful love." I smile from ear to ear and turn around, hugging him.
"Thank you, Harry." I take his hand as he directs me back to his car. I look over my shoulder one more time at the wall of quotes before I get in the car and we drive away.
"I have something else to show you." I look over to see a grinning Harry and can't help but smile myself. Harry is full of surprises and I honestly can't wait to see where this one leads us.
