Having sorted out the whole project issue with Bakugo put me in a better mood immediately. I felt good about standing my ground during our discussion and it seemd to give me the energy to actually let go and enjoy hanging out with my friends for the first time in a while.Kami, Sero and myself beelined straight to our town's infamous burger shop. It was a cheeky, diner style burger joint aptly titled 'Between Two Buns'. It was a hot spot for high school students. Not only did students come to the diner to hang out and gossip, but the burgers were actually top notch as well.
The three of us slid into a circular booth near the back of the restaurant and settled into the red cushioned seats. Within a few minutes a waitress had approached our trio and taken our orders. I swear Kami's eyes sparkled while he ordered a strawberry milkshake. After ordering, Kaminari and Sero exchanged a glance and I prepared myself for the siege of questions they no doubt had about the incident earlier.
"So, Mido..." Sero started off, confirming my suspicions, "What is up with Bakugo, man? I've never seen him so riled up." he said scratching the back of his neck.
"Yeah bro, he was straight buggin'." Kaminari added, eyes wide.
"It's that stupid English project." I say with a deep sigh, "We're partners, remember? It would be a total non-issue if Bakugo didn't have this unexplained, volatile hatred towards me." I explain bitterly, recalling the blond's behaviour.
"Yeah dude, I don't know what's up with him. He's usually pretty rude but I've never seen him look so angry like that." Sero says nervously, biting his lip and looking down.
"Sero!" Kami scolds, elbowing the dark haired boy next to him in an attempt to preserve my feelings, "I'm sure it'll turn out alright Mido." he turns toward me, acting as if he'd never hit Sero, a reassuring tone in his voice, "The project is due next week, so you'll be done with him in no time." he says with a half smile and a pat on my arm.
"Ever the optimist, aren't you Kami?" I tease, "Yeah, it really shouldn't be too much of an issue. I've dealt with plenty of bad partners before, I guess." I trail off, attempting to mirror his positivity.
The food arrives shortly after our conversation about Bakugo, and I could not be more pumped to demolish a 'Between Two Buns' burger. Discussing my situation with my friends did seem to help some, and I was thankful for their company.
When Kaminari's milkshake arrived he all but squealed with delight. Sero and I laughed at the gleeful blond as he disregarded the straw completely and dove face first into the milkshake, covering his face with whip cream and pink milky liquid. Sero was trying to help wipe off some of the mess on Kami's nose with a balled up napkin to no avail. I'm still chuckling at the sight of Kaminari dodging Sero's napkin attacks when I hear the door chime at the front of diner jangle loudly as new customers enter the restaurant.
I instinctively look towards the door way, drawn by the sound, and my improved mood sinks back to the depths it came from.
Who other than Bakugo strides cockily into the quaint small town diner. A tall red haired guy with a matching black leather jacket and ripped black skinny jeans trails behind Bakugo, as well as an objectively attractive pink haired girl who I had seen around before but never talked to.
"What are the odds." I hear Denki murmur beside me, and I quickly shift my gaze from the trio back to the table.
"Apparently very high if you're me." I groan, sliding lower in my seat, as if that would stop the hostile blond punk from spotting me.
"Oh c'mon," Sero pipes up, "It's not like they'll come over here."
"We can only hope." And pray.
