Darnells Pov
Y/N is not just my best friend, she's my confidante, my partner in crime, and the one who truly understands me. It's a complicated situation because I can't help but love her, even though I know it's not the conventional kind of love. We share a bond that goes beyond friendship, and it's what makes me cherish her even more.Ever since I moved from Nevada, she has been my rock, supporting me through thick and thin. We've had our fair share of ups and downs, but we've always managed to overcome them together. Y/N has this incredible ability to make me feel like the luckiest person alive, whether she's by my side or not. The thought of confessing my feelings to her is both exhilarating and terrifying. I fear that it might jeopardize our friendship if she doesn't feel the same way. Losing her is a risk I can't bear to take.
However, deep down, I can't help but wonder if this could be the beginning of something extraordinary. So, despite the fear, I've decided to take a leap of faith and go for it. Who knows? It might just be the start of an incredible journey for both of us.
Here We Go.
I approach her from behind and embrace her tightly. "Hello, beautiful," I whisper. She turns around and playfully responds, "Hey, cutie." I gather my courage and ask, "Can we meet up after school today? There's something really important I need to talk to you about." She ponders for a moment and replies, "Sure, why not?" As she closes her locker, I suggest, "Shall we walk together?" She nods and starts walking in the opposite direction towards our class. "Great, see you then. Let's meet here and go together," I suggest, heading towards my own class. "Sounds good," she says with a smile, heading off in her own direction.
As I walk to my class, my heart is racing with anticipation. I can't believe I finally mustered up the courage to ask her out. I've had a crush on her for months, but I never had the guts to tell her how I feel. Today, I'm determined to confess my feelings and ask her to be my girlfriend. The rest of the day seems to drag on forever. I can't concentrate on anything, and my mind keeps wandering to our upcoming meeting. Finally, the bell rings, and I rush to our meeting spot. She's already there, waiting for me with a smile on her face.
I inquired, "Are you ready to go?" She responded, "Yeah, let me pack up my bag," as she swiftly retrieved her books from her locker and placed them inside. "Alright, let's go," she declared, taking hold of my hand and leading us out of the school doors towards my house.
Once there she asked, "So, what did you want to ask me, Darnell?" I stumbled over my words, feeling a wave of nervousness. "Oh, umm, I wanted to ask you if...if..." I stuttered. Concern etched on her face, she interrupted, "Darnell, what's wrong? You're worrying me."
Gathering my courage, I replied, "Um, Y/N, there's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now, and I think now is a great time." "Alright, spill it," she urged. "Okay, Y/N, I love you. I'm deeply in love with you, and I've had feelings for you for the past two years. When we used to argue a lot when I first arrived, I felt terrible because you were the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on, and yet I treated you poorly. But once we moved past all of that, you became the one person I always wanted to be around. I wanted you at my football games, I wanted you there when I committed to UCLA, I wanted you for everything. So, Y/N, I want to know, will you be my girlfriend?" I asked, pouring my heart out.
"Oh my gosh, Darnell," she exclaimed, her face filled with surprise. "I know, I know, you don't feel the same way," I started to say, but she cut me off, saying, "No, D, I do feel the same. So, no more talking. Come and give your girlfriend a kiss," she said, smirking. "You don't have to tell me twice," I replied, as I leaned in and kissed her soft lips.
As our lips met, a rush of emotions flooded over me. It was a moment I had dreamt of for so long, and now it was finally happening. The kiss was filled with a mixture of passion, relief, and pure happiness. It felt like time stood still as we embraced each other, savoring the sweetness of the moment.
Breaking the kiss, we both grinned at each other, unable to contain our joy. It was as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, knowing that Y/N felt the same way about me.
