YN sat at the small cafe table, her fingers idly tapping against the rim of her coffee cup. She checked her phone for what felt like the hundredth time, but there were still no messages from her date. She sighed, glancing around the cafe nervously. Each passing minute seemed to stretch on forever, and YN couldn't shake the sinking feeling in her chest.
The waiter, a kind-faced man with a warm smile, approached her table. "Another coffee, miss?" he asked, noticing her empty cup.
YN shook her head, forcing a smile. "No, thank you. I think I'm alright for now."
He nodded sympathetically. "Alright, just let me know if you need anything else."
As he walked away, YN's gaze drifted back to her phone. She felt a pang of disappointment as she realized her date wasn't going to show up. She had been looking forward to this evening for weeks, and now it seemed like it was all for nothing.
A few more minutes passed, each one feeling heavier than the last. YN watched as couples laughed and talked around her, feeling more and more out of place with each passing moment.
The waiter returned, this time with a tray of freshly baked cakes. "Are you sure you don't want anything?" he asked gently, gesturing to the array of desserts.
YN forced a smile. "I'm fine, really. Thank you."
He nodded understandingly, setting the tray down on a nearby table before turning back to her. "Well, just let me know if you change your mind. And don't worry about rushing, you can pay whenever you're ready."
"Thank you," YN murmured softly as he walked away.
Alone once again, YN stared down at her hands, feeling a mix of sadness and embarrassment wash over her. She had been stood up before, but it never got any easier. With a heavy heart, she gathered her things and stood up from the table.
As she made her way to the counter to settle her bill, YN couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards the kind waiter who had looked out for her during her time of disappointment. She offered him a small smile as she handed over her payment, grateful for his understanding in a moment when she felt so alone.
Leaving the cafe behind, YN took a deep breath, determined to shake off the disappointment of the evening and move forward with her head held high. Pulling out her phone she unlocked it and called the one person she knew would answer.

INCOMING CALL FROM 🌻YN🌻
YN walked briskly down the street, her phone pressed to her ear as she dialed Da'Vinchi's number. After a few rings, he answered with a confused "Hello?"
"Hey, it's me," YN said, her voice tinged with disappointment.
"Hey, what's up?" Da'Vinchi replied, picking up on the somber tone in her voice.
"I'm on my way home," YN said, her steps quickening. "My date stood me up."
Da'Vinchi's tone softened immediately. "Aw, I'm sorry to hear that, YN."
"It's okay," YN replied, trying to shrug it off. "Honestly, it probably would've been a bad date anyway."
Da'Vinchi could hear the sadness in her voice and felt a pang of sympathy. "Still sucks though."
"Yeah," YN agreed. "And get this, when I tried to text him, I realized he'd blocked me."
"What? That's such an asshole move," Da'Vinchi exclaimed, shocked.
YN sighed. "Yeah, tell me about it."
As they continued to talk about the situation, YN mentioned that she would need to call a taxi and would see Da'Vinchi when she got home.
