"Hey Jazz!" Carter came running towards me.
"Hey, what's up?" I asked.
"Mind if I ask some advice?" He asked.
"Advice?" I looked at him, "On what?"
"On love," he formed a heart using his two hands. "There's this girl I like. She's dating someone else though. She only probably considers me as a friend,"
"Oh come on, don't be too harsh on yourself. I'm sure she likes you too," I smiled and nudged him lightly. "Just be yourself, and show her your affectionate love and romantic attention,"
He nodded and considered my words.
"So you like me too?"
I woke up. So it was just a dream.
But it seemed so real. How on Earth could Carter like me?
He is the school quarterback. He could probably just go off with some hot cheerleader. And he knows Adrian and I are dating. Plus he didn't do or show any sign of him liking me.
Except when he invited me to the Winter Formal. Gosh, is that a sign?!
All of a sudden my phone rings. The call's from Adrian.
"Hello," I tried to sound light and calm.
"Hey. What are you doing right now?" he asked.
"I just woke up. I think I'll practice though," I answered.
"Okay. You still wearing the ring?" he asked again.
"Of course," I smiled into the phone.
"I really miss you," he told me.
"We just saw each other last night. It's Saturday today, we could hang out," I suggested.
"You just told me you'd be practicing," he laughed.
"I could cancel that," I smiled.
"Great. Let's meet at the park," he told me and after I agreed, we hung up.
I chose a light pink top and faded jeans. It was still a bit cold outside, so I wore a denim jacket.
Adrian arrived at the park first.
"Hey," he tackled me and gave me a bear hug.
"Ha-ha," I laughed, "So what's up?"
"Nothing much," we sat on one of the park benches, "Katrina's getting better,"
"I can see that. I'm so glad she'll be back to normal again," I smiled and squeezed his hand.
"But her cancer cost us so much," he squeezed back, "I'm thinking of doing a part-time job,"
"What job? I want to do one too," I smiled at him.
"Let's look for one. Something that we'd both love to do," he suggested. "Anyways, you feeling cold?" I nodded. "I'll buy us some hot chocolate. Stay here,"
I let go of his hand as he crossed the street to get to the pastry shop.
I waited there. Suddenly someone called me. "Hey Jazz!"
And surprise, surprise. It's Carter.
Omigosh, is my dream coming true? Please don't let it come true.
"Yo Carter!" I greeted in another way, something different from my dream.
"What're you doing here?" he asked. Thank goodness, he's not asking for advice.
