"Come on, Dean! School's over let's enjoy one last summer before university or where ever we're all going next year," Lily begged, hanging off my arm.
"I don't know Lily, I need to get a second job to pay for uni."
"It won't be for the whole summer, just for like a month or so!" she whined.
"I'll think about it, okay?"
"I can assure you, it'll be fun! My parents have a holiday home we can stay in so we don't need to pay for accommodation!"
"I'll let you know."
"Well, we're leaving on Saturday, so you have two days to decide. Call me!" Lily punched my arm lightly, then ran off in the opposite direction for her home.
I sigh, swinging my bag over my shoulder. School's finally over, no more exams, no more staying up till the early hours of the morning revising, I can just relax. Maybe a long holiday would be good for me, come next year I'll be even more stressed over uni.
When I got home, I kicked my shoes off, threw my bag on the banister, walked into the front room and flopped onto the sofa.
I pulled my phone from my pocket, checking for texts from any of my family, but had none. I hadn't really spoken to them in over a year, we didn't exactly part on good terms. My mum got a promotion at work and needed to move away, I refused to go with them. My mum was pissed to say the least, she accused me of not wanting her to be happy.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by my phone vibrating in my hand. I clicked the answer button.
"Hello?"
"Dean! You better be coming on holiday with us! You deserve a break, dude."
"I know. I know. I'll let you all know by tomorrow, I promise. I need have things to do, talk to you tomorrow."
"If you say no, we'll kidnap you, I mean it."
"Alright then, Luke." I hung up the phone then tossed it beside me.
I stood up from the sofa, made my way to my room and looked around. Strewn across my floor was paper after paper of boring school work. Sighing, I kicked it around with my foot, making my way to my desk. I sat down, pulled out my journal and began scribbling down an entry.
July 20th
Dear Journal,
Today was my last ever day of school, and I can tell you this, I have never been more relieved. I never have to step foot in that place again, and I haven't been happier in a long time.
My friends want to go on holiday to celebrate the end of our main school careers, but honestly, I'm not sure I want to. I mean, I'm off to uni next year, and I need all the money I can get in order to actually fend for myself. I know I already live alone, but I live in a house that's fully paid for. Next year I'll be living in a dorm that I have to pay for on top of living resources, I guess you could say I'm terrified I won't manage. That's why I'm sure I need to get another job.
But I suppose a holiday is exactly what I need, right? I need to relax for a bit, I need to stop worrying about everything for a while, and just be a normal teenager, right? I am eighteen after all.
D.
I closed the red journal and shoved it back in the drawer on my desk, stood up and made my way down stairs. I opened each cupboard in turn looking for something to eat, when I came to the conclusion there was nothing I fancied, I grabbed my keys and some money then made my way to the supermarket to get some.
I walked up and down the aisles, looking for essentials. I didn't need much, considering I'd decided to go on the trip with my friends in two days. I grabbed a loaf of bread, some burgers, bacon and sausages, then went and paid.
I carried my items down the street, humming under my breath as I did so; unfortunately, as I wasn't looking where I was going, I bumped into someone causing me to hit the ground.
"Watch it," the tall man snarls, looking down at me.
He was beautiful. His brown eyes shimmered in the bright summer sun. "S-sorry," I stammered, pulling myself up from the ground.
Even on foot he was quite a few inches taller than I. His eyes bore into mine intensely, making me feel uncomfortable.
"Whatever," he said, he then turned on his heel and began walking away.
I stared after the boy, my heart racing. Why did I feel like that? Why was I nervous?
When the boy was out of site, I picked my bags up from the ground and began my journey back home, the boy's eyes never leaving my mind.
I unlocked my front door, and made my way inside, closing the door behind me. I walked into the kitchen and swung the bags on the counter top, then I started unpacking it, putting the burgers and sausages in the freezer. I turned on one of the hobs of the oven, opened the pack of bacon and began frying it. Smoke filled the air as the bacon sizzled away.

I was laying on my bed when my phone rang. I fished it from my jeans pocket, and pressed the answer call button.
"Dean!" Lily squealed down the phone.
"Hey, Lily," I replied.
"Please, please tell me you've come to a decision."
"I said I'll let you know tomorrow,"
"I know, but I couldn't wait to find out! I'm too excited!"
"Yes, I've come to a decision."
"Really? Are you going to come?!"
"I am, only because I realised how badly I need a holiday, and need to forget about everything in my life at the moment."
"Good on ya, Dean. I'll pick you up early on Monday, okay?"
"How early?"
"Say, seven?"
"Seven?!"
"It's a long journey. I don't want to get there too late,"
"Fine. I'll see you then."
"Bye, D!" Lily squealed one last time before the call cut out.
I dropped my phone beside me on the bed and picked the book I was reading back up.
It was almost twelve when I finally started to settle down for sleep. Every time I closed my eyes, all I saw was the green eyed boy from earlier; I had every inch of his face memorised, the way his black hair covered all of his forehead, the way his brown eyes were sparkling in the sunlight; in other words, it was creepy the way I remembered it all; he wasn't even a nice person. I sighed, then soon enough I was drifting into a sweet slumber.
