I watched as the boy, Sebastian, walked away into the crowded dance floor, dodging between the people.
"Who was that?" Jacob asked as he took his seat beside me.
"Who?"
"The boy you were talking to? You didn't look happy."
"He's no one. Should we go find a table to sit at?"
"He's clearly someone. Where's my drink?"
"He drank it."
"That was bloody rude, did he at least pay you?"
"Nah. Get a drink and meet me over there," I said, sliding off the bar stool.
I pushed through the throng of sweaty people, trying my hardest not to gag at the overpowering mixture of aftershave, perfume and sweat.
I made it to an empty table, and sat down. I watched the people dancing near the table. Girls in skimpy short and tight dresses and men in what some people would call 'hip'. I suddenly felt very out of place, I looked down at my own clothes. I had gone with a dress shirt and a black sweater vest with some tight black jeans.
"You alright?" Jacob asked as he slipped into the seat opposite me.
I turned to him. "Yeah, I'm good," I replied, smiling at him.
"So, you going to tell me who that black haired boy was?"
"His name is Sebastian. He's a rude arsehole, and frankly I never want to see him again." I sipped my cole through the yellow straw.
"So you know his name already?" Jacob winked at me.
"We've met a few times, and each time he's just been rude."
"Yeah, alright then." He winked again.
"What?"
"What?" He mimicked, raising an eyebrow and laughing.
"Why don't you go find a girl to sleep with or something?"
"I don't feel like it. Why don't you?"
"You know full well I don't have what you call 'one night stands'."
"I know. I know. You're into relationships. I would be too if any of the girls I wanted one with wanted one with me." He looked down at the pint glass, I could tell he'd just hit a nerve. "You know what, I think I will."
"You will what?"
"Go find a girl who'll sleep with me."
"Okay then. I'll stay here, if you're not back here in an hour, I'll leave without you, okay?"
"Sure. I'll text you if I leave though," he said.
"Alright. Go get 'em tiger." I laughed.
Jacob stood up and walked away, his drink in hand. I watched him till he was out of sight.
"Do you like him or something?"
I groaned the minute I heard the familiar raised voice.
"What do you want now?"
"Nothing. I just saw you were all on your lonesome, so I came for a chat." He grinned. "Now answer my question," he demanded.
"Why should I answer you?"
"So, yes?"
"No. He's my friend, and I don't like guys."
"I don't see you going to score."
