You gasped when you heard the explosion. You ran to your window and searched for what might've been the cause of the explosion. The Stacks. It was on fire.

"So where do you live?" Wade asked nonchalantly as the two of you worked on your homework, "not to be creepy or anything. Just wondering, if maybe we lived near each other." He hastily added.

You laughed, "I live in Columbus, Ohio."

"What? No way!" Wade's eyes widened in surprise and he leaned forward eagerly, "so do I!"

"I live in the green district. (AN: That's made up. I have no idea what the living situations are like in the series.)" You replied, "you?"

He looked at you in shock, "er," he shook himself out of his frozen state, "the Stacks." You nodded. Personally you never set foot in the Stacks. Your dad warned you that the Stacks were full of sketchy people and that he never wanted you to get anywhere near them. You respected your dad and his advice, so it never occurred to you to disobey. "What are you doing at a public school?" he questioned.

You made a face, "the rich kids who go to the private schools are pretentious jerks. Even more so than the ones at the public schools."

Wade winced, "ugh. That must have been horrible."

"It was," you agreed, "that's why I switched. I'm glad I did though," you smiled at him and looked into your webcam instead of the screen, "I got to meet you, and you're a better person than all of those other kids combined."

"Wade!" you gasped and quickly logged onto your computer. You tapped your foot anxiously as the computer booted up, and then waited anxiously again as the chat room loaded. You clicked on the room with Wade (which was easy since you didn't have many) and frantically typed your message.

-Wade.

-Hey Wade.

-Are you all right?

-I saw there was an explosion in the Stacks

-Please tell me you weren't near it

-Please tell me you're safe

Your foot tapped impatiently on the ground as you waited for a response. His icon remained silent with the dot filled in gray to signify he wasn't there. You bit your lip as you started thinking of the crazy things that could've happened. Maybe he died. Maybe that was his home. Maybe that was why he wasn't responding. Or maybe he was just in OASIS. Yes, that made more sense. He was probably away from his computer and playing the game. Everything was fine. Maybe you should do that too. Try and distract yourself as you waited for his response.

You pushed yourself away from your computer and walked to the corner of your room where your gear was set up. You strapped yourself into the vest, pulled on your gloves, and put on your headset to reveal the glow of colors that signified you were in the OASIS.

You were dropped off in the lobby and you checked your friend list to see practically all of them online. "Locate Parzival." You said aloud and the game located him and you teleported to him.

You checked your watch and saw that five minutes had passed since you last checked your message box, "I'll be back in a sec." You told Aech before lifting up your hands to take off your headset. You looked at your computer and saw that it was the same as before. Wade's name was still grayed out, and you had no unread messages. You frowned and then put your headset back on. You were still in the same place where you left, since you never officially logged out of the game.
