Day 2...Now kill yourself off via some sort of accident. The enemy lives though. And you have to kiss goodbye.
Things are heating up in here :P
Now I really hate her.
Ten minutes.
We were the last left alive out of our group, the rest had fallen behind and we wait for no man.
Nine minutes.
Okay maybe I was exaggerating but I did not want to be outside that bunker after nine minutes. I glanced up as I ran glad to be running on tarmac now not the loose stones I was running across half an hour ago, another thing had changed in that half an hour was that our imminent death looked a lot clearer. The sun was setting in the horizon the first time I had seen it set in weeks because it had been covered in the ash cloud of some impossible to pronounce Icelandic volcano and from the top of the hill I had a brilliant view of the ocean's golden waves and the trees swaying in a wind looking almost tropical, the moon was at its crescent looking very romantic if only it wasn't pointing towards the comet streaking towards us.
The comet itself wouldn't be the problem, I think, everybody climbs a mountain as it hits the water and waits the flood out and then go back to their daily lives. However some genius decided that wasn't good enough and tried to destroy the comet with a nuclear bomb and a very shifty rocket. The result? We now have a very large very radioactive comet streaking towards us intent on causing a nuclear winter too and everybody was thinking that we would die from Ebola or world war three or something but nope it was one idiot with a nuclear bomb and the forces of nature, the pyroclastic flow couldn't be helping. I guess nature got bored of us not killing each other anymore.
Seven minutes.
I can see the gates in the distance and the last few trucks carrying supplies and a few random tanks, if I wasn't so exhausted I would be suprised. There we're two people holding them open wearing all white.
Five minutes.
The trees are being replaced with bombed out shells of buildings and burning oil. That would be what the tanks were for, whoever owned the place must have put up a fight. We've reached the gates by now and I realised that the doorkeepers were wearing protective nuclear clothing just encase.
Three minutes.
Mike sent me a smile and grabbed my hand pulling me down to safety or the beginning of safety anyway. The downward slope made running easer and soon we were plunged into darkness focusing only on the light at the end of the tunnel that would be our salvation.
And my downfall.
I screamed in pain as my foot got caught in a hole and i was dragged to the ground, I must have blacked out for a couple of seconds because the next thing I know Mike is pulling me to my feet again.
"Five more minutes, then you can rest." he said pulling me forward ignoring my gasps of shock.
Two minutes.
People were running past us now and I can't really see them, I can't really see at all anymore. There was a grinding noise and the gate started to close, Mike started to speed up and I tried not to start screaming but Mike must have felt its as he slowed down slightly. We were about a hundred metres from the gates when it hit me.
I wasn't going to make it.
Mike could however.
"go." I gasped. "leave me."
"what!" he snapped stopping dead.
One minute.
He stared at me in the darkness the light from the rapidly closing gate lighting up his blond hair and sparking eyes.
"I'm not going to make it run." he turned slightly and stared. I shoved him slightly. "Go you blithering idiot go!" somebody behind the gate stopped it for about half a second so they could push out a dune buggy or something which trundled up the slope as if it had all the time in the world. I shoved him again and he seamed to make his decision.
"I"m so sorry." he murmured and pulled me close in a fleeting hug. "I'll never forget you." then he kissed me and my heart stopped, even the pain in my foot stopped before he realised me and sprinted to the gate and rolled under the gate where he lay staring at me. Then the gate closed with a thud and immediately screams filled the air and people started to bang on it praying that my some miracle it would open.
Zero - no time left.
I touched my lips that were slightly swollen from the kiss and tuned out the screaming, I put my hand down before withdrawing it quickly as my fingers blistered under the wheel of the buggy. I hesitated for a fraction of a second before grabbing the bar and letting the buggy drag me up the the surface.
Minus one minute.
There were people piling the gates and all I could see was blood and bodies. How many would be killed in the crush before the world even ended? I looked out over the ocean and let go of the buggy. I had he perfect view of the end. The pain was starting to come through by now and I blocked it out, ten minutes maximum? I could survive that. I put my hand in my pocket and withdrew a single cube of galaxy chocolate which I popped into my mouth. Die in comfort right?
Minus two minutes.
The sun was just perking over the horizon and the comet was heading straight for it trailing fire and tearing holes in the ozone layer. I could feel the temperature increase each second and the chocolate in my mouth melted completely. A shame I like chocolate. I should probably look away but I couldn't my eyes were hooked on seeing the greatest light show in the history of planet Earth, my brain agreed.
Minus three minutes.
The comet hit the land or ocean in the exact spot the sun had just disabled from and arches of light spread out, light was the fastest thing in the universe, I could feel my eye brows rising in delight at the spectacle before me and at least I got to see the whole thing before the radiation reached me.
I think I preferred the broken ankle.
Minus three minutes twenty six seconds - nine forty seven and fifteen seconds PM
Light nothingness.
The darkness of death
I wonder if Mike will keep his promise.
Okay. I think that was an awesome enough death although the glory of battle might have been better I don't know how to get Mike out of the Hunger Games. All the people I hate would be terrible in it. Dead in the first five minutes, five hours if they're lucky but anyway hope you liked it see you again tomorrow and SuperBatman4? Update today.
