Day 12

12. Space is going to be a recurring theme for this. So, the Milky Way and Andromeda Galaxy have collided. Earth is dried up and useless - but, another planet was found to suit the needs of the planet. Meanwhile, a small team of people are being sent back to Earth with a range of supplies to keep them fed, well, and in proper temperatures and stuff. You are one of these people. Write about returning to Earth.

I watched as the once blue planet came into view. It now resembled what would have been the two planets either side of it's child, most of it was a dusty red with sports of bright yellow. Most of the water had dried up with the collapse of the atmosphere and now there was nothing left to protect it from the two suns harmful UV rays. Raging across the south was a massive storm being guided by the moon, if the battered lump of rock could still be called a moon. We came closer to the surface and I put on my helmet and switched on the oxygen so that when the door opened a few seconds later I could jump out and be the first person to step on planet Earth on several hundred years. It was just like a desert only I knew this desert covered the entire planet surface, in the distance I could see the ruins of a broken city and i looked around. Desert and rocks and death. Skeletons lay everywhere and I was overwhelmed by the sheer numbers. Everything had changed.
