"Look who's finally up!" Sam teases, turning from the stove to look at me. I roll my eyes.
"Well I didn't sleep at all the night before so I guess I had some catching up to do." I shrug.
"Are you okay?" He asks. I shrug once again.
"No." I answer honestly, my hand unconsciously going towards the necklace my mom gave me. I take a deep breath to keep from breaking down for the millionth time in the past two days.
"It'll be okay, Mads. I know it seems like it won't be, but it will." He assures.
"Can we just... stop talking about it? Please?"
"I mean, you have to tal-"
"Well I don't want to!" I snap.
"Okay." He sighs, giving up. "That's okay."
"You hungry?" He changes the subject.
"Uh, yeah. A little."
"Eggs and bacon?" He asks.
"Turkey bacon?" He looks at me and smirks.
"The only way to have it."
Sam sets the plate of eggs, bacon, and toast in front of me as Dean walks in.
"Mornin'!" He chirps. He sits at the head of the table after he grabs his plate from the counter.
I put jelly on my toast as Sam sits down with his food and Dean takes a bite of the bacon, immediately spitting it out. My eyebrows scrunch together as Sam rolls his eyes at the older Winchester.
"Really?" He stares at Sam. "Turkey bacon?"
"Overdramatic much?" I say, stuffing eggs in my mouth.
"Tell me about it." Sam mutters.
"Sam, Dean." Cas appears next to me, causing me to jump and yelp quietly.
"Jesus fuck." I mutter.
"It's Crowley." He says with a sense of urgency. "He's planning something."
"What?" Dean asks.
"I don't know. But it's something bad." He replies.
"Okay. Where are we going?" Sam says as they both get up, placing their plates in the sink.
"Utah."
"What the hell is he doing in Utah?" Dean asks.
"Wait, you're leaving?" I ask, not meaning to sound as disappointed as I did.
"We have to. Crowley is the king of hell and he's very dangerous. We need to figure out what he's planning." Sam explains.
"Oh."
_______
"Once we figure out what we're dealing with, we'll call you and tell you how long we'll be gone." Sam informs me as we stand in the garage.
"Okay." He opens the car door and stands in front of me.
"Please stay safe." I say, my voice cracking slightly. "You're all I have left."
"Don't worry about me, Maddie." He assures. "Come on." He smiles. "I'm a professional."
I sigh and hug him tightly. He obviously wasn't expecting it as he hesitates before hugging me back.
"I'm not ready to lose someone else so if you die, I'm going to kill you." I say, half joking. He laughs and pulls away.
"Stay in the bunker. You shouldn't need anything that we don't already have in the bunker." He demands.
"Okay. Call me whenever you get information." I say, backing away towards the door.
"I will." He smiles before getting into the Impala and closing the door. I wave at them as they back out and start down the long driveway.
And now, we wait.
That night
I let out another sob as I scroll through my camera roll, finding a photo of Katie and I. We were both smiling really big. She was leaning against me with her arm around my shoulders.
I just want to go back to that time. Where everyone was happy and alive.
Before I was too much of a coward to save the people that really mattered most.
God knows it should've been me. I'm the one that deserved the punishment. So that's what will happen.
I throw my phone on my bed and decide to go and buy some razor blades.
I don't actually have any money, though.
I find my way to Sam's room and look around, looking for extra cash. I smirk when I find a 20 dollar bill in his side table.
I put some black jeans on and a fresh hoodie before walking over to the key rack. I choose one of the 2 car keys and walk out. These cars were for emergencies, apparently. I guess this wasn't really an emergency, but how else would I get there?
I press the unlock button and the red 1959 Cadillac, that Dean had fixed up, beeps. I smirk, as this was my favorite of the 2.
I hop in and start the car, pulling out onto the road that leads to the main town. This is my first time driving by myself. I have my permit, but technically I'm breaking the law right now. Good thing I have the fake ID that Katie got me.
After 10 minutes, I pull up to the closest convenient store. I turn the car off and get out, walking inside after locking the car.
I walk around for a bit before finding the razor blades. I grab them and start to walk to the front, when I see the alcohol. I sure could use some right about now.
I grab a bottle of rum and look at the price.
Shit.
I only have enough for the rum or for the blades. I can't buy both.
I could just steal the blades.
It wouldn't be the first time I've shoplifted. I shrug and make sure the clerk can't see me before I peel the tag off of the razors and stuff them in my hoodie pocket.
I place the bottle on the counter as the guy gives me suspicious, shifty eyes. I know he's about to ask for the ID so, before he does, I pull it out and show it him.
He nods hesitantly before ringing me up and giving me my change. I place the fake ID and the change back into my wallet before grabbing the bottle and speed walking out of the door.
But just to my luck, the alarm goes off. Guess I didn't get the whole security tag off.
I sprint to the car as I unlock it, hopping in and turning it on all before the guy can chase me down.
He starts yelling at me to stop, but before he can even get to the car, I raise my middle finger in the air and speed off.
