(Olivia's POV)
I wake up, the room blurry as I adjust to the lighting in the room, "When is Mommy gonna wake up?", I hear Caleb say softly. I then feel a hand stroke my hair, "She'll be up soon", he says softly. I finally adjust to the lighting, seeing James and Caleb smile at me, "Oh my goodness you're awake!", He says with a smile. I smile tiredly, "Yeah, am I ready to go home?", I ask softly. James smiles, "Yes you are, the doctors are gonna discharge you in a bit, they are just checking some things," he says with a smile. I smile, "Mommy, can we play soccer?", asks Caleb, standing on his tippy toes to look at me. I look down at him and smile, "Of course! Just let me get better", I say softly. Caleb nods, "Hey, the doctor said you needed to rest when you get home still even though you're discharged", says James. I nod, feeling tired, "Okay", I say faintly, feeling tired and weary. James looks at me concerned, "Liv, Olivia, you okay?", asks James worriedly. I nod faintly but then blackout.
(Jame's POV)
"Liv, Olivia, wake up!", I say frantically. Olivia stays blacked out, not moving, "I need some help!", I yell out. Nurses start rushing into the room, hooking fluids and putting needles into her skin, "What's happening to her?", I ask scared, keeping Caleb close to me. The nurses keep working on Olivia, "She has brain hypoxia, it's when the oxygen is cut from your brain, she doesn't have enough so, we need to give her more before she dies", they say frantically. I stay in the room while they help Olivia, "Daddy, what's wrong with Mommy?", asks Caleb softly, holding onto my hand. I pick him up and put him on my side, "They are helping Mommy, she'll be awake soon", I say softly, hoping she'll wake up. Caleb nods as I assure him Olivia will be okay. I then think about it, "Will she be okay?", I ask myself. The nurses then tell us to go into the waiting room. I walk out with Caleb on my side as I go into the waiting room. I look to see Olivia's mother looking worriedly, "James", she says softly as she comes over to me and hugs me. I hug her back, feeling the warmness of her body, "Hey Carol, Olivia lost more oxygen to her brain so she blacked out but, they are trying hard to save her", I say, trying not to cry. Carol sighs, rubbing my shoulder, "It's gonna be okay, I promise, she can't die on you, leaving you with two kids to take care of, she's gonna be okay", she says with a small smile but I can see the look of uncertainty in her eyes. I sigh, "Let me take Caleb to go have fun, he needs to get out anyway", she says as she takes Caleb from my waist. I nod, waving to Caleb as she takes him outside, "Hey James", I hear a guy say. I then turn around to see Olivia's father, carrying Sophia, "Hey", I say, taking Sophia from Larry. Sophia sucks on her thumb, laughing and smiling, "Hey sweetie", I say with a smile as I boop her nose. Sophia sticks her tiny tongue out, "She's been a very good girl but can't stand to be away from Olivia", says Larry. I smile sadly, "Well, she is practically attached to Olivia", I say with a small chuckle. Larry smiles, "How is she doing?", he asks softly. I sigh, "She blacked out again but, the nurses said they'll try everything to help wake her up again", I say worriedly. Larry smiles softly, "James, she's gonna be okay, stay positive", he says with a small smile. I nod, hoping he's right. I think about it for a bit, "If Olivia dies, what will happen to Caleb and Sophia? They'll grow up without a mother. I shake that thought out of my head, trying to stay positive. I then sit on the benches, keeping Sophia close to me, "James, you okay?", asks Larry softly. I sigh, looking up at him, "What if Olivia dies? Larry, I can't think that positive at the moment!", I say scared. Larry sighs and sits down next to me, "James, my daughter is a fighter, remember that time when part of her kidney got punctured and they thought she was gonna die?", asks Larry. I nod, "Yeah, I was scared to death, I thought I was gonna lose her", I say softly, not looking at him. Larry nods, "Well, she pulled through, we all thought we wouldn't see her again, she is a fighter James, she will get past this, she will return to normal, I know my own daughter", he says with a sad smile. I nod, "But what if she dies? It's a possibility, Larry, I know Olivia is a fighter but, there still is a chance", I say sadly. Larry sighs, "I know but, just stay positive, for yourself, for Caleb and Sophia, for Olivia", he says sadly. I nod, memories rushing to my head of her, her smile contagious, her hair soft and golden as she brushes it every morning, her eyes, deep brown elegant eyes, full of every emotion she feels. This random memory comes back to me, the day she was smiling, the day I felt like the happiest person around her.
Memory
"Olivia, come in the water, it'll be fun", I say as I run my hands through my wet hair. Olivia stands at the end of the pool, with a two-piece bathing suit, smiling, "James, I'm good, it's too cold", she says with a shy smile. I smile, "Come on honey bee, please? Your parents are gonna come in", I say with a smirk. Olivia sighs, "I'm good, it's too cold", she says, a towel wrapped around her. I raise my eyebrows, "Please, for me?", I ask. Olivia shakes her head, "I'm good", she says with a small smile. I get out of the pool, dripping wet, "Okay then, can you at least sit on the step with me?", I ask as I take her hand. Olivia smiles, "James, I'm good", she says, shuffling her feet on the concrete. I roll my eyes, smiling, "Fine", I say. I then sit on the chair, a towel wrapped around me, drying my hair off with another towel, "Why did you get into your bathing suit then if your not gonna come in?", I ask with a smirk. Olivia sighs, smiling, "It's nice outside and I'm hot", she says. I smile, "Yeah, you are hot", I say with a smirk. Olivia playfully slaps me, "Shut up!", she says. I laugh, "You are though", I say. Olivia shakes her head, smiling, "Nah", she says. I go up to her, smiling at her, "Well, you are to me", I say with a small smile. Olivia smiles, "Thanks", she says with a shy smile. I laugh, "I'm gonna go back in, wanna come?", I ask. Olivia smiles softly, "I'm not ready yet", she says with a small smile. I take her hand, walking towards the edge of the pool, "Oh look! A puppy!", I say as I look behind me. Olivia looks behind her, "Wait really?", she asks. I jump in the pool, pulling her in. We splash in the pool, coming up for breath, "James!", she says as she shivers in the pool a bit. I laugh softly, "Come on, you need to be outside, you need activity, you've been cooped up in that house ever since Caleb was born, please, I want you to have a rest", I say with a small smile. Olivia sighs, "Okay", she says. I smile, "I wanna ask you some stuff, how have you been? I know you have been waking up every night to feed and rock Caleb to sleep and haven't had much sleep", I say worriedly. Olivia sighs, "It's the life of a mother James, I'm fine", she says, getting interrupted by a yawn. I look at her worriedly, "Wanna go dry off and take a nap?", I ask her softly. Olivia nods, rubbing her eyes, "Come here", I say as I pick her up, carrying her out of the pool. I put her on the lawn chair, drying her body off, accidentally tickling her stomach, "James, you know I'm ticklish there", she says as she sits up. I smile, "I know, I was just drying you off", I say. Olivia nods, laying back down. I then tickle her stomach again, "James! Stop", she says, laughing a little. I tickle her again, Olivia laughing, "Stop please!", she says laughing. We fill the day with laughter for the rest of the day.
End Of Memory
I clench my fists, feeling the rage through my body, "Matthew did this", I say under my breath. Larry plays with Sophia, bouncing her, looking towards me, "James, it's not Matthew's fault, it's no one's fault", he says softly. I stand up fast, glaring at Larry, "No, it was all his fault, he was the one that choked her, the one that beat her, the one that harmed her, my little honey bee, your daughter, Caleb and Sophia's mother, it was all his fault!", I say madly, my voice raising. Larry sighs, "Calm down James, it's gonna be okay, she's gonna be okay", says Larry calmly. I rage with anger, clenching my fists as I walk out of the hospital, "I need some air", I say madly as I walk out the door, feeling the cool fall breeze hit me. I look to see the leaves falling off the trees, lightly falling to the ground like a feather blowing softly in the wind. I sigh, knowing Olivia's favorite season was Fall. She said she loved to see the trees turn different colors, the leaves dropping elegantly as they flow softly in the wind. I sigh, hoping she is okay. I then hear the hospital doors open, "Mr. Brennen?", I hear someone say. I turn around to see a doctor, looking at me, "We need to tell you something, it's about Olivia", he says with a serious face.
