A/N: the wAY CAL LOOKS AT HIM
(I have way too many fight scenes)
[Calum.]
No, this definitely wasn't true. This was not happening. Not to me, not right now.
Ah, fuck.
"Oh, look, it's that pretty boy Luke's dating."
I rolled my eyes, taking a deep breath before answering. "Jake, always a pleasure."
Oh yeah. I ended up running into the notorious Jake on my way to meet Luke at work. So now I was face to face with one of the people I hated the most, and I just knew something bad was going to happen.
"I don't even know your name, pretty boy," he raised an eyebrow, an amused smirk playing on his face. Damn, I was going to lie. This guy was attractive. If he wasn't responsible for screwing over both my sister and my boyfriend, I probably would've appreciated his beauty a bit more. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving.
"You don't need my name," I shrugged, making to walk away, but his hand came down on my shoulder, holding me in place.
"Not so fast," he smirked, his grey eyes mischievous. "I don't think we've ever been properly introduced. I'm Jake, an- ahem, friend of your boyfriend's." He extended his hand, but I just looked at him with a hint of amusement.
"And I'm not interested in false introductions," I stated bluntly, again trying to walk away.
"Do you really think I'm gonna let you go that easy?" he asked, not removing his hand.
"Um, yeah," I shrugged, giving him a fake smile. "I don't take orders from... Well, from anyone."
"I just wanna have a talk with you about Luke."
I frowned. "I really don't think there's anything you could possibly tell me about Luke that I don't already know."
"I just want to make sure you're treating him right."
He seemed so serious, but all I wanted to do was laugh. Was this guy for real?
"Yeah, sorry. I don't think I should be taking any advice from you on that sort of thing."
"Excuse me?" Jake sneered, taking a step forward. "I love Luke, probably more than you could ever love him. I would treat him right if he gave me the chance. Hunh, you'll see. You two are never going to last. And when Luke finally sees that he can do so much better than you, then he's-"
I didn't even wait for him to finish what he was saying, my fist had already come into contact with his face for the second time ever.
Whoops. Guess Taylor wasn't the only one who had problems controlling her temper. In my defence, he had it coming.
To my dismay, he only cackled, bringing his hand up to his jaw. "Having trouble accepting the truth, hunh pretty boy?"
"The truth is that I love Luke and that I will do absolutely anything I can to keep you away from him," I snarled. I wasn't going to let his words affect me because I knew they were all lies.
"You can't keep me away forever. One day he'll see that I am so much better than you," he sneered, taking a step forward, but I held my ground. "Luke will snap out of it eventually."
"Fuck you," I snapped, shoving him backwards. He stumbled a little but reciprocated the action, only angering me further.
Within minutes, fists and limbs were flying everywhere, and I was positive I had broken his nose again. A small crowd of people had gathered around us by this point, but I didn't care. All I cared was teaching this douchebag a lesson.
"Stay out of Luke's life and I'll let you go before you get any major damage," I spat, dodging a blow coming from him before swinging my own.
"Fuck off, I'm not going anywhere, not without Luke," Jake sneered, but before anything else could happen, I felt arms around me, pulling me away from the fight.
"What the fu- No! Stop!" I tried to pry the all too familiar arms off me, but it was no use. Ashton was way stronger than me. "Ash, fuck off, this isn't- Stop!"
On the other side, some unknown person was holding Jake back. He was thrashing less than I was, but he seemed beyond furious. "This isn't over, pretty boy!" was the last thing I heard coming out of his mouth before I was dragged around the corner and dropped onto a bench.
"What the hell were you doing?" Ashton all but yelled, and now I was afraid. Ashton had never, ever gotten this mad at me before. "You can't just start fights with people like that! If I hadn't found you, who knows what would've happened to you Cal! And-" his eyes went wide and he seemed to start panicking a little. "Oh, crap. You're bleeding. Okay, great, uh, oh my god."
He took me by the arm and I tried not to wince, and he dragged me to the nearest convenience store - which just so happened to be right next to the record store Luke was working at.
Ashton hurriedly bought what he needed before sitting me down on the sink of the store bathroom, but just as he was opening up the bottle of antiseptic, the bathroom door swung open to reveal none other than Luke himself, dressed in his dark green work shirt with a huge grin on his face.
"I knew it was you!" he exclaimed cheerfully, but his eyes quickly took in my wrecked appearance and he rushed over to me. "Holy shit! What happened to you?!"
"I-" I wanted to be the one to explain it, but Ashton had other ideas.
"I found your nimrod boyfriend in a full-fledged fist fight on the sidewalk," he rolled his eyes, handing Luke the first aid kit. "But I think you guys should talk about it together. Cal, I'll talk to you later... Bye guys."
With that, Ashton stepped out of the bathroom, and Luke turned to me. His eyes were filled with worry as they scanned over my face, wincing at the sight of my busted lip and soon to be black eye.
"Who did this?" he asked quietly, ripping off a piece of bandage and pressing it against my lip to stop the bleeding.
I couldn't look into his eyes when I answered, "It was Jake."
His movements stilled for a second before he sighed. He took my arm quietly and started applying something to my bruises, doing so for about a minute before speaking. "Why did you fight him? I thought we established that that was a bad idea."
"Luke, I had to," I almost whimpered when he dabbed antiseptic at the gash on my cheek. "I couldn't just let him say all those things."
"What did he say?" Luke asked, his eyes meeting mine.
"He said that you could do so much better than me," I mumbled, trying to distract myself from the pain that was creeping in to my body. "And that you'll stop loving me some day."
"Calum," Luke sighed, shaking his head. He put his hand on my non hurt cheek, sighing as he bit at his lip ring. "You know that's not true."
"I know," I sighed, bringing my hand up to hold on to his wrist. "But it's just... You're my weakness, I guess. I don't want you to realise that you can do better. I love you so incredibly much, and I want- Fuck, Luke, I don't know what I want. But I do know that I don't want you to leave me, not anytime soon... Not if you can help it..."
With a grin, Luke pressed his lips to my nose. "I'm right here, Cal. I'll always be right here. You don't have to get into a fight for that... I love you so much, Cal. Don't worry, alright?"
I sighed, smiling softly at him. "You're really the best, you know that?"
"I've been told," he laughed, and I rolled my eyes before laughing along.
