Draco, Blaise and I jumped out of the train laughing at a joke Blaise told us. Still laughing and clutching each other we staggered towards the gigantic man who was screaming for all the first years to follow him. The others all looked at us weirdly causing us to quieten down and put our masks back on. "Can't let us have even one bit of fun, can they?" I whispered to Draco and Blaise rolling my eyes. They just snorted and nodding in agreement. Moments later we were already on our way to the boats just behind the giant. Hagrid I think his name was. At least that's what Lucius told me when I asked him about our journey to Hogwarts.
"Four to a boat!" Hagrid's booming voice shook me out of my thoughts and Blaise, Draco and I climbed into one and were soon joined by a black haired girl. She was quite pretty with her shoulder length hair, slim face and dark eyes.
"Hi. I'm Pansy. Pansy Parkinson." One after another we introduced ourselves but the rest of the ride was spent in silence.
Once we first saw the castle we stared at it in awe. Sounds of admiration were released from every direction into the silence of the night. It was so beautiful and the silvery light provided by the full moon just added to the beauty. Once we stood directly in front of it we felt so tiny.
Loud pounding disturbed the peaceful aura of awe and everyone seemed to snap back to reality.
"Yeah. Just break down the door, won't you." Blaise muttered and several students around him including John giggled. Well.. never knew he had a sense of humor but apparently he doesn't fail to surprise me once in a while.
The door opened and a stern looking woman stepped out. "I'll take over from here, thank you Hagrid. Come on in." She stepped to the side and let us enter. "Now before I lead you to the Great Hall a bit of information. You will be sorted into the four Hogwarts houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. More information concerning your house will be provided by your head of houses. I am Professor McGonagall, Transfiguration teacher and head of Gryffindor house. Now everyone smarten up, line up, then follow me."
The grand doors to the Great Hall opened slowly and we walked in gathering at the front.
"When I call your name you will come to front and put on the Sorting Hat which will then announce your house. Abbot Hannah!"
She then proceeded to call the rest of the students while I zoned out. Just as Draco was sorted I started paying attention. He of course went to Slytherin as well as Pansy whose turn it was just minutes later. Then it was mine....wait no...it would've been mine.
"John Potter!"
Excited whispers broke out and everyone tried to get a glimpse at the boy-who-lived except the Slytherins who were just scowling.
I however was frowning. H came before J so officially it was my turn. It was probably favoritism.
"GRYFFINDOR"
It took solid 20 minutes for the red table to calm down before I was called to the front.
'Hmmm what do we have here. A bright mind, cunning, too, and a whole lot of ambition. But loyality to your friends and bravery like no one else.' The hat said in my head.
'Why hello hat. If I may, please do not put me with my idiot brother if you can.'
'No Gryffindor then? Unusual opinion but you wouldn't survive there anyway. You like to think first, don't you. Oh I know exactly where to put you. Good luck in-'
"SLYTHERIN"Smirking I stood up and walked to the green table and was welcomed with loud cheers.
I sat in between Blaise and Draco. Feeling glares on me I glanced up to the teachers table and froze. They were here. James and Lily Potter were here. And they. Were. Furious.
