Zacks POV

I was awakend all of a sudden out a peacfull slumber to the blankets being whipped off me and a male voice yelling, "Rise and shine!" being as startled as I was I yelled and jumped probably two feet in the air, and then bounced right off my bed and onto the other side near the wall on the floor. Luckily the floor was covered with plush carpets and it was rather comfortable so I just stayed there on the floor but not before I was jabbed in the stomach with something that shocked me, causing me to yell again. I looked at what just shocked me and saw that Eric had poked me with a cattle prod.

"What the hell? I didn't even do anything!" I yelled and Eric just laughed. "Time to get up sleeping beauty. I acually let you sleep in a little bit today." he said and started to walk out but stopped, "I wouldn't get back in bed if I were you." and walked out.

I looked at the clock on my bed side table and saw it was 7:00 in the fricken morning! I am NOT a morning person. At all!

I followed Erics advice and didn't go back to bed, because I didn't really want to pay the consiquences. I put on a pair of shitty jeans and a red plaid long sheeved shirt that I rolled up to my elbows.

I only put a little gel in my hair spiking it up in the front and brushed my teeth. Walking sleepily down the stairs, I smelled bacon, eggs, sausage, toast and boy did it smell so good! I went to the kitchen and saw Debbie just putting the food on the table, "Oh hello Zack! Did you sleep well last night?" she asked setting down a delicious looking plate of bacon and sausage. I nodded, "Yeah. It was fine. Thanks."

She laughed when she saw me starring at the food, "Go ahead. Take a plate and eat up. You have to get to work today. Eric will show you what to do. You'll be pretty much only be working in the fields. It's Aprils job to take care of the animals." I nodded as I loaded my plate with the yummy food. I wish my mom cooked like this all the time. She only did this kinda stuff when it was a special occation.

Eric came in from outside, and sighed. "The damn truck isn't working. I'll have to take it to the mecanics." Debbie gave him a meaningful look and nodded toward me and he nodded.

"Zack? Do you know anything about fixing trucks?" Eric asked as he sat down at the table with his plate. I nodded, finishing the bacon in my mouth, "Yeah, I know somethings."

"Would you mind taking a look at my truck and tell me why it isn't working, and if you can maybe fix it?" he asked. I nodded, "Yeah. I'll see what I can do." I said, as I wolfed down my breakfast.

When I was done I rinsed my dish and put it in the dishwasher, following Eric outside. I followed him to a red heavy duty pickup truck that was in dire need of a good wash.

"I don't know why it won't start. I checked it but I don't know what it is." Eric said living up the hood. I looked inside and found the problem imediatly. "The red wire that is supposed to connect to the battery is disconnected. That's why it won't work. Without that wire, the car isn't able to create the spark it needs to start. From what I see you need a totally new wire, so you would have to take it to a macanic, or get the wire and I could install it for you." I suggested and Eric nodded. "Thanks Zack. That would be nice of you. Now I would like you to load my other truck with those hay bails over there and when it's full, drive the truck to the barn with the cows. Just unload it where you see all the other bails.". Eric said and I nodded not arguing because he didn't seem to be fooling around when he threatend me yesterday.

"Okay. Well I got my stuff to do. I'll come and get you when ts time for lunch then we can talk about the party. See ya." he waved and walked off.

I looked at the bails. There had to be at least 50 or 60 of them. It was only 8:15 in the morning and it was already probably about 85 degrees out. In other words, to hot for a shirt. I unbuttoned my shirt and took it off putting it inside the truck next to the keys on the seat. I am so glad that I don't get sun burn. I can be outside with no shirt on for the whole day on the beach and not burn. I only tan, but I have never gotten so tan that I look Mexican or black. (A/N: I just want to let everybody know, I am not trying to sound racist. I am acually the exact opposite or racist. So those of you that are of those ethnicities, please don't take offense.)
