Something nice, something nice.

I carelessly rummaged through my drawers for 'something nice'. I flung shirt after shirt, pair of pants after pair of pants, onto the floor until it made a somewhat neat stack of clothing. I finally held up a long blue top and a pair of dark jeans.

This is something nice, right?

My mom would let me leave the house when hell froze over.. twice. So, I silently pushed my bedroom window open, and crawled out onto the roof, reliving what Ashley did earlier. The moment I set foot outside, I could hear the music from her house. I sighed regrettably but cautiously jumped from the roof onto the ground, and by cautiously jumped from the roof.. I mean, I slowly lowered myself from the five feet length from the ground to the roof.

Once my foot made contact with the welcoming ground, I immediately sprang into a run towards Ashley's house. It was really dark for only half past seven, so I made sure I didn't make any detours. My long, blue top floated around as I ran and the ends of my jeans started to get wet, so I stopped for a moment to roll up my pants. I stared at my feet for a couple of seconds and sighed. I was wearing a pair of shiny, black ballet-like shoes and it was painful to run in them. But, I dealt with it.

By the time I reached her house, she was already waiting outside. Her eyes seemed to drift from my toes to the last hair on my red head.

"Nice," She smirked, impressed by my choice of clothes. I looked down at how I rolled up my jeans - it looked ridiculously sloppy. I shrugged, walking up to her.

"You said 'something nice' so here is something nice," I smiled, crossing my arms. She beamed at me and gestured me to go in first. I slowly turned the door knob and pushed the door open, the loud music almost making me deaf. Before I stepped inside, I rubbed the backs of my shoes on her familiar welcome rug. I peered over the edge of the door and observed the people inside.

"Relax, April," She sighed, shoving me deeper inside.

"No, I don't want to-" I started to say but I stopped there. I knew she couldn't hear me. Who could? The music was literally raping my ear!

I whipped out my cellphone and started typing a text message going to Ashley.

I'm so smart, I thought to myself, laughing stupidly.

'Can I go home now?' It read and I clicked 'send'. I looked behind me at her and watched her read my message. She furiously shook her head and continued to shove me around until we reached the staircase. I shyly looked back at her and she made an expression that said 'Go on! What are you waiting for, you loser?'. I cautiously walked up the steps and we walked, side by side, up the stairs until we reached her bedroom.

When she shut her door, all the bad noise went away and I smiled.

"So," I started to say, "Where's the part where you tape me to a chair?"

"Oh, I would never do anything like that!" She laughed, sitting beside me on her bed.

"Then why am I here?" I sighed deeply. I really did not want to be here.

"Ash!" A voice exploded through the open doorway. Our heads jerked up towards a tall figure, completely out of breath. "There's a fight going on downstairs!"

And with that, he darted back downstairs. Ashley gave me a oh-crap look. I just shrugged and she quickly followed the guy downstairs. I didn't know whether or not I wanted to move or have the possibility of getting knocked in the face.

I guess I have to follow them, I thought to myself and casually walked downstairs.

"Take it back, you bitch!" I heard a voice shriek and my eyes snapped open. Oh, it's a girl fight. I thought it was two guys because that's how it always is, right?

"Slut!" The other girl laughed, kneeing the first one's gut.

The two girls were surrounded by a mob of people and I saw Ashley and that guy fighting through.

"Hey, you two! Get out!" Ashley yelled, elbowing people out of her way. She could be pretty agressive when she wanted to.

Their eyes snapped over at Ashley and they laughed.

"We're not finished," The second one laughed cruelly, punching the other.

"Hey-!" Ashley started to say, when she was shoved aside by someone. I squinted my eyes as I slowly stepped closer.

"She said get out," He coolly said, grabbing them by their hair. He pushed them harshly through the mob of people and shoved them outside, slamming the door behind them.

"What the..?" I started to say, confused.

"Don't worry about it, April," Ashley beamed at me and I smiled weakly. I looked at the guy standing beside her when I noticed he had his arm around her.

"Who's this guy?" I asked, pointing a finger carelessly at him. He seemed to be offended my question.

"I'm her date," He smiled proudly.

"Ashley's date? She doesn't know the meaning of the word 'date'," I retorted, blankly staring at them.

"Oh, hush, April," She said, smiling.

"What about you? Where's your date?" He said, suddenly taking a dislike towards me.

"I'm working on it," I mumbled, he just laughed. I felt angry suddenly and walked away from them.

"Well, look who it is!" A familiar voice called to me, and I looked around to spot Jared with his arm around Ally. She was smiling evilly at me and I just couldn't take it.

I couldn't respond. It was like my mouth was glued shut. Even if I did say something, it would come out wrong. I clenched my fists and ran upstairs, closing the door behind me as I sat on Ashley's bed.

"Can I go home.." I softly said outloud, lowering myself on her bed. I closed my eyes and tried to imagine a world where there were no more Ally's and more nice guys like Jared.

It was a bit hard seeing as people like Ally exist everywhere.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out my iPod Touch. I plugged myself into my own little world and listened to "She's So Lovely" by Scouting For Girls.

It was such an upbeat song that it made me take a small nap.
