Walking through the school Ellis was looking over at the table where Cameron and his friends sit at, he wasn't there, he thought it was odd. Cameron wasn't in geography or English, he also walked to then I.T department, he wasn't there. Ellis thought that he would be there and that he was happy that he wasn't here but also sad and that he doesn't need to tell his friends not to beat him up.
"Come on mate." Finlay was pushing Ellis through the door to P.E, Seb wasn't allowed to go to P.E after punching Cameron after some people said that he saw Seb punch him and Ellis was sticking up for Cameron.
Walking to the field Finlay were kicking the ball. Finlay walked back to Ellis.
"Why stick up for the gay guy and not Seb?"
"Because it not fair."
He walked to his other team mates and then started to practice.
Cameron was doing his I.T work on his bedroom when he got a message, it was Ellis:
Cameron, are you ok? Are you with me coming today?
Cameron looked at his phone, he was surprised that Ellis was watching out for him.
It's fine mum wanted me to stay home. Come tonight.
For the rest of the day he has the reminder that Ellis is wondering where he was and that he is still coming tonight. He did work, he looked at his phone every hour to see the time, wishing it would go faster.
That night Ellis walked into his bedroom, Cameron said hey, they sat down on the floor and started to go over the stuff that the English teacher taught the class that day.
"Was it because of your bruises?" Ellis asked a couple of minutes later, Cameron sat back down after getting a pencil for Ellis. He looked at considering if he wanted to speak for some reason.
"My mum just didn't want me to go because of them, they heal fast, your friends are not that good at punching my face. They need more practise." He laughed, Ellis looked concerned, he stroked his hand across Cameron's cheek and then his eye, Cameron flinched.
"So it does hurt a bit." He laughed and put his hand down, Cameron wasn't understanding the situation, why is Ellis like this? She he ask or would that be bad.
"Ellis... why are you so nice to me even when your friends are beating me up, you stop them and tell them to leave me alone, why do you do that?" He asked, looking at the reaction on Ellis face. Should he have asked the question?
"Because, I hate that they do that, they don't need to. I stick up for you or anyone that they do it to because I don't want to be known as the kid that hangs out with bullies, I try but they don't want to listen."
"I thought that you tell them to punch and kick me then you come over and act like you are the nice person and help me up and say sorry." Ellis looked up, hurt that Cameron thought that, he nudged over closing the space between them.
"Is that what you really felt?" He was closer, Cameron was pulling back, he was getting nervous, his cheek felt like they were on fire. "Your cheeks go red when you are embarrassed. It's cute."
He placed his hand cupping Cameron's cheek, Cameron was more nervous, he diverted his eyes away from Ellis, Ellis trying to make him look.
