Draco POV

"(Y/N)! (Y/N), wake up!" I whispered, shaking her arm gently. She shot right up, nearly head-butting me. I was silently praying that she wouldn't scream—I didn't want to be caught in the girl's dorms, especially not at night.

"Draco? What are you doing here? Did something happen?" She asked worriedly. She scrambled to throw off her covers and get out of bed. I put a hand on her shoulder to stop her frantic actions before she could get up. Her eyes were slightly red and she looked very tired. I suddenly realized that I should have just waited until the morning to talk to her.

"No, nothing happened. Never mind, sorry. Go back to sleep, love." I assured her, smiling and turning to leave.

"Wait!" She said, grabbing my wrist. I froze, my brain practically shutting down. I knew that if she asked me to stay, I wouldn't be able to refuse.

"What did you need, Dray?" She persisted, standing up next to me, her fingers now intertwined with mine. I turned to face her and saw the look of concern displayed on her tired features. I felt a pang of guilt for disrupting her sleep.

"Really, it's nothing, (Y/N). Please, just go back to sleep. It can wait." I said, stroking her cheek with my thumb. Being my girlfriend, she could easily see that it was actually bursting at the seems.

Truthfully, I had come to finally say 'I love you'. We had been together for quite some time, and I felt ready. Blaise may have also encouraged me a bit, but I truly did mean it. I loved her, and she should know it. Now that I was actually staring into her gorgeous eyes, I felt much less confident than I had pictured myself being.

"It's three in the morning, Draco. I wouldn't call this 'nothing'." She said, her tone slightly accusing.

"What's the matter?" She asked, a little gentler this time. I looked to the floor, trying hard not to be sucked into her enchanting stare. She noticed this, and unlinked our hands in order to hold my face.

"Look at me." She whispered, our faces only a few inches apart. I had a strong urge to close that space, but I pushed it to the back of my mind. She made me look into her deep (E/C) eyes, and I felt all my fears melt away.

"I love you." I blurted before I could stop myself. Once I registered what I'd said, I froze. She pulled her hands away slowly.

"Draco, I-I..."  Oh, dear Merlin.

"No, don't. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything. Forget that I was even here." I ranted, completely panicking. I turned sharply on my heel and rushed for the door.

"No! Draco, I—" She started but I cut her off.

"Please, just leave it, (Y/N). Forget it. Forget that I said anything at all." I muttered, now walking briskly down the hall. I had to really fight to hold back the tears that were coming on. She began to run after me, and I quickened my pace.

"Draco! That's not—"

"Stop it! Just go back to bed. You don't have to pretend to like me any longer. Deep down, I guess I knew you'd never really like me. I mean, I'm just some rich, snobby—"

In less than a second, she'd caught up to me, turned me around, threw her arms around my neck and pressed her lips to mine. I hesitated for a second, then kissed her back passionately. I pressed her up against the wall and completely forgot where I was or why I was upset. We both pulled away after a minute, breathing heavily.

"Damnit, Malfoy! I was trying to say 'I love you, too'!"

"Oh. You should've just lead with that."
