Reader POV

"Are you sure about this? You don't have to come to this thing. Honest, Mum will understand." George tried to convince me.

We were currently standing outside of the Hogwarts gates, just off the property. Some of the older Weasleys and I been given special permission from Dumbledore to use magic to apparate to the Burrow for this evening, as to not miss any classes due to travel time.

The whole Weasley family was going to be at the Burrow for dinner. Since I'm officially George's girlfriend now, Molly had invited me along to come and meet everyone.

"Do you want me to come?" I asked skeptically. Ever since I'd received the invite, George had been weird about it. Out of his entire family, I'd only ever met Fred, Ron and Percy. "If you don't want me to meet your family yet, that's alright..."

"No! No, I do want you to meet them. That's not it." George was quick to clarify, "I'm just... I'm worried they'll scare you off." I almost laughed aloud.

"I'm sure it can't get much worse than you and Fred." I joked in an attempt to lessen his stress. He cracked a smile for a moment but then went back to being serious.

"Fine. If you want to go so badly, then we'll go. But you have to promise to tell me when you want to leave. Deal?" He wasn't convinced by my nod and made me pinky promise. We then joined hands and apparated.

The world around me went all squiggly and stretchy like it always does during Apparition. After what couldn't have been more than ten seconds, we were standing on the lawn of the Burrow. We both stood there blankly for a few seconds, regaining our balance and composure. But before either of us could move or speak, a voice came from the porch.

"George! You made it!" I looked up to see a stout ginger woman beaming with a smile. She made her way down the steps as she continued. "Oh, and you must be (Y/N)! Lovely to meet you, dear. I'm Molly, George's mother."

She pulled George in for a hug and then she did the same to me. I was a little startled by how friendly it was. I was used to the polite, barely-even-touching hugs when I first met people, but she hugged me the exact same way she had hugged her son.

"Come on inside now, it's too cold to stay out here!" Molly made her way back up the steps and we followed. George absently grabbed my hand as we crossed the threshold. The house was warm in not only temperature but atmosphere. Yellow light reflected off of the faces of about a dozen people sitting around the dining room table. The room roared with energy and conversation.

"Hello, everyone." George announced our arrival. Many grins broke out as they turned to see who it was. There was a chorus of greetings as people rose from their chairs to say hello and give hugs. "This is my girlfriend, (Y/N)." George explained in response to the many jumbled questions about who I was.

George began to formally introduce me to each member of the family. First up was Bill, then Fleur. Their elegance and natural formality seemed almost out of place amongst everyone else. I tried hard not to stare at Bill's scar, but he noticed that I was avoiding it immediately and laughed, proceeding to explain how he got it.

Then we wandered over to a young girl who introduced herself as Ginny. She told me that I was pretty and whispered in my ear that I could do much better as she leaned in for a polite hug. I laughed so only she would hear. Siblings picking fun at siblings would never not be funny. George quickly asked what had happened between us and we both acted like we didn't know.

George then led me over to a tall man named Charlie. "You didn't bring any dragons with you this time, did you Char?" If it weren't for his deadpan tone, George's question could've been a joke. Charlie laughed one choked laugh and then began to pale. "Charlie!"

"There was nowhere else to keep them! And they're shrunk down and locked up, so they won't get free this time!" Charlie exclaimed.

This led to a short argument where George scolded Charlie for having let a miniaturized Norwegian Ridgeback light off the fireworks in his room last time he was here and Charlie begged George not to tell their mother that he had dragons in the house again. It ended when Fred arrived at the party and came over to deal with it. George apologized to me and took me upstairs to his room for a break from everyone.

"Isn't it illegal to have personal dragons?" I said only to break the tense silence as we sat on his bed.

"Yeah, it is. Charlie has a passion for those fiery beasts though, so I don't think he cares." George explained with a scoff. I could tell he felt a little upset and maybe even a bit embarrassed.

"Well, anything's only ever illegal if you get caught." I joked. He smiled at the joke and was glad to see that I wasn't as bothered about his family as he seemed to be. "Hey, how old is Ginny by the way? She seems pretty mature."

"I know, right? She's turning thirteen soon, but honestly she acts like she's the oldest of us all. Quite the oddball, that one." He seemed to be relaxing out of his worry upon seeing my genuine interest in his family. It was clearly something he enjoyed talking about.

He talked for a while about his various family members. Who he was worried about, who annoyed him, who was the funniest. I listened. It was nice to hear.

At some point we had both laid down next to each other.

"I'm glad you came." He admitted after a long minute of staring at each other.

"That's what I was trying to tell you earlier!" I teased, poking him in the side.

"Yeah, yeah, you were right. As usual." He laughed and rolled his eyes. "But, seriously—"

"I know. I'm glad, too. I really like your family, George. You all truly care about each other." He was silent for a moment as he took that in.

"(Y/N)." George finally spoke. I hummed for him to continue. "I really love you. It means so much to me that you like them."

"I know, George. I really do love your family. And, of course, I love you too."
