Living in Mystic Falls was definitely challenging, especially for someone like you, someone who is aware of the existence of all the beings who were supposed to exist only in fairy tales and stories for kids. Still, here you were anyway, living in the town that was crawling with mystical beings all from vampires, witches, werewolves, hybrids all the way to the heretics.

When you were growing up, you never thought that this would be your life, surrounded by all these beings, fighting every day to stay alive and trying not to become their next meal.

You always thought you would finish high school, go studying, fall in love with the love of your life, and have a perfect life. After you graduated, you decided it would be better if you stay in the town and find a job. You were here since you were born and you couldn't imagine leaving it, even for college. You believed you found the love of your life, and that you don't need a fancy diploma to be happy. Oh boy, you were wrong about finding the love of your life, so wrong.

You and James have been together for six years. You two met on your first school day, and you became friends, and it didn't take long for you two to share your first kiss. You could say it was good but not that good as you would imagine to be. James wasn't your first kiss, even though you never told him that, he was a jealous type, so you believed telling him he was your first at anything would be the wisest.

Your first kiss was in reality with Tyler Lockwood, you never dated or anything, you didn't have that kind of feelings for him, he was just your friend, and when your friends dared you two to kiss you did, it was nothing special but it was still better than your kiss with James, it had more passion and love in it than your kiss with James ever could have.

You loved James, you did, but after six years your feelings weren't the same as they were on the start, you didn't felt the butterflies when he looked at you and damn sure you didn't felt anything when he kissed you, but you still loved him, not as much as you should love him, but there were some feelings.

All the way through your relationship, there were fights, a lot of fights. He would find any reason so you would fight, and most of the time it was because of your best friend Damon, who had feelings for you and flirted with you all the time, even when James was with you, which made your time together when James was there weird and awkward.

You always had to reassure James that there weren't any kind of feelings on your side, but you were always lying, you were feeling something for Damon, for years. You had fallen for Damon, but Damon was dangerous, a bad boy, and you know you two would never work together, so you never admitted your feelings to him or anyone else. Nobody knew that you were indeed in love with Damon Salvatore, but that didn't matter as you were with James, and Damon was no good for you, you knew that.

Your relationship with James was rocky also because all of the girls had a crush on him, and they would always flirt with him or try to kiss him. While you never flirted with Damon, he always flirted with girls, and that always made you mad, how he even dared to flirt with them and act like you weren't there. Still, you always let it slide, because you knew you two have been fighting too much anyway, and you didn't want to lose him, as he was one of the few people you had left, and you really believed he was your happily ever after, even though you didn't love him as much as you used to.

It was Friday night, and you were working as a waiter at the Mystic Grill when suddenly Matt came to you, scaring you. "Y/N." You almost spilled the drinks you were carrying on yourself, so you gave Matt an upset look. "Matt, what the hell? You scared the hell out of me." He just chuckled softly, and you smiled a bit.
