Imagine: Elijah sees you when you self harm and wants to help you.
TW: if you are uncomfortable with the topic of self-harm or if it triggers anything, please don't read it, thank you.
I also know that not every depression is the same; this chapter will be written off my personal experience. Also if you have any problems and feel like you have nobody to talk to do not hesitate to message me, you think you can get through this alone, but that is nearly impossible, just know that I am available 24/7 and I hope everybody is okay

It was just another day for you, another day you have to survive no matter how bad you felt or how bad your depression was. This was a constant battle for you, struggle for life.

From outside, it looked like you have a perfect life and that you are happy, but that is far from reality. You might have understanding friends and the best boyfriend anyone would ever want, but that doesn't mean that your mind isn't a dark place, because it is. It is filled with demons that are eating you alive every second of every day.

Ever since the night your younger sister died, you felt empty, and you always felt like it was your fault, and it didn't help that your parent's attitude towards you changed. You were treated like a mistake, like someone who shouldn't even be alive, it was no secret that you were never their favorite but after your sister died it all went just downhill from there, and so when you got the first chance to pack your things and leave, you did. You left and never looked back, but leaving didn't heal your broken heart.

You never told Elijah anything about what went on in your home, and he never thought that things were as serious as they were. He loved you more than anything and so when you told him you have no place to live, he bought you two your own home where you have been living for the last three years.

But living with someone else, made your problems more difficult to hide. You were always careful to wear long sleeves so nobody would notice your cuts and scars, but now that you were living with someone who actually cared for you that was very difficult to conceal.

You always had your depression under control, well at least how much it could be under control. You never self-harmed if he was in the house, or if you knew he would come home soon, you didn't want him to know the truth, the horrible, dark truth you have been hiding for years.

Everything was fine, and you were good at hiding the truth until that one day, the anniversary of your sister's death.

You were woken up by a soft kiss on your cheek, and you slowly opened your eyes only to see Elijah looking at you with a sweet smile. "Morning beautiful." You just chuckled as you nodded at him, you were still feeling a bit sleepy. "I have to go to meet Niklaus, but I will be back by evening." He gave you one last kiss before leaving to meet his brother.

You were glad he had other plans; you needed to be by yourself today because you knew if he would be with you today, you would just simply break, and that was the last thing you wanted for him to see.

You stayed in your bed for a few more hours, quietly sobbing in your pillow when suddenly your phone started ringing. You slowly looked at the screen only to see the number you have been avoiding for years, your mother's.

You knew why she was calling, and you were sure she was drunk, like every other day, even though you knew it was a mistake you picked the phone while tears still were falling down your cheek.

"Hello?" There was a silence for a few seconds before the drunken voice spoke. "Y/N... I can't believe it; you still know how the answer the fucking phone. At least something else you are good at except killing your siblings." Your heart broke in a million more pieces at her words; you knew this would be the outcome of your decision to answer the phone, but it still hurts like hell.
