Waiting for almost an hour for Autumn to arrive wasn't something Summer planned to do and right now she regretted rushing her food and leaving in such a haste. The only thing keeping her from boredom was the music playing on the radio, if not she would have been thoroughly engulfed by boredom.
She just kept listening to it, occasionally nodding her head, and when the chorus of Starboy by Weeknd came on, she couldn't help singing along.
"Now look what you've done
I'm a motherfucking starboy
Now look what you've done
I'm a motherfucking starboy"
And then she hummed away the remainder of the song.
She missed Jayson a lot; she should call him she thought but then he was probably not home yet. She would call him when she had picked up Autumn and was in the safety of her rooms. She started scrolling through his pictures, retrospecting to the time she found out she was pregnant: she had just come back from home after seeing Dad when he was sick and requested them all to be home. She was confused and didn't know what to do; she cried so much that day and decided she wasn't going to abort the baby. She was financially stable enough to have the baby so she didn't have an excuse not to. The only thing she had to do was hide her baby from her family and their judging eyes. Winter would have been so happy to find out that she was knocked up before marriage. For a moment she wondered why Winter was always so competitive and why they all couldn't live in peace.
She didn't know how much time had passed until she saw Autumn coming out of the departure gates. She stepped out of the car and went to meet her little sister.
"Heyyyyyy, how are you? It's been forever"Summer asked with excitement in her voice
"I'm fine, you don't look bad yourself" said Autumn
"Come here, you deserve a hug. The last time I saw you, you were on a hospital bed fighting for life, that day was really scary, like batshit scary." Summer said
"I'm sorry if I frightened you, but you should know I'm a fighter, there was no way I was dying on y'all, I heard you were there all through waiting for me to wake up and when I finally did, you weren't there anymore." Autumn replied
" I'm sorry, I had an emergency." And then Summer hugged her younger sister, feeling a kind of peace within- the kind that makes you close your eyes and not let go. When she finally looked up, she saw Spring leaving the Arrival door probably looking for a cab.
"Umm, do you know when Spring is coming in?" Summer asked
"No, I can't even remember the last time we spoke, I should probably text her later or something to check if she's still alive yunno. I wouldn't want to get another call from Mr King."Autumn replied
" Well, there would be no need because she is here."Summer said.
"Where?" Autumn asked, looking around.
"Do you want her to go with us? if not you better keep this hug until she gets into a cab, I don't want you two fighting right here yunno."Summer said.
"Oh! Well maybe we should just let her go."Autumn said and hugged her sister more.
But while Summer watched on, she saw exhaustion written all over Spring, the kind she was familiar with after working long hours nonstop. Something in her couldn't, wouldn't, let her abandon her to fend for herself. So it was a surprise to Autumn when she screamed "Spring! Spring! Over here!!"
Spring heard her name, turned around and saw her sisters, slightly puzzled she approached them.
"I thought you said you didn't want us fighting what changed." Autumn asked
"I couldn't do it, I'm supposed to look after her too. Hey, you better behave your self" Summer cautioned
"As long as she behaves herself."Autumn replied with a hiss which earned her a smack from Summer.
"Hey!I'm not 12 anymore and we are technically the same age, so can you stop smacking me already?" Autumn complained
"I was in this world 15 hours before you, so I'm still your older sister. You better behave, she's right behind you"Summer warned.
" Surprise surprise. Hi Summer, Autumn. how have you both been? Did you guys just arrive today?" Spring inquired.
"No, I arrived today; Summer has been here since yesterday, she just came to pick me up yunno, something sister's do" Autumn said with a malignant undertone.
"Of course, of course, she would know when you are arriving and even come to pick you." Spring replied
"Yes, that's something that happens when you love someone and not compete with them."Autumn said.
"Why you answering for her though,I mean she's here and she's the older sister."Spring replied.
"Girls can we not do this right now? Hi Spring, how have you been?"Summer asked
"Very well, thank you for checking up on me Big sister"Spring mocked
"Well, you wouldn't have died, if you sent her a message Big sister" Autumn replied in the same manner.
" Oh! Shut the hell up, Autumn! no one is speaking to you" Spring answered rising to anger
" Oh yeah, since you're so good at being a big sister, tell me when last you spoke to your favorite sister? yeah that one Winter? Do you even know when she's coming? Or if she's coming at all?"Autumn asked.
"Uh-oh, cat got your tongue? Oh wait lemme guess the last time you guys spoke was probably a month ago. With your busy schedule, doing air-quotes as she spoke, so let's see, maybe a year ago, awww you should definitely receive award for best sister of the year" Autumn continued talking.
It looked like Spring had something to say but Summer beat her to it.
"Okay, you two cut it out, that's enough; you are drawing enough attention as it is, don't forget we are in Birmingham now and we are called THE WHILTEMORE SISTERS, behave both of you. Spring we are leaving now, are you coming or not?"Summer asked.
"As much as I don't want to..."
Autumn cutting her off mid sentence interjected "Then don't."
"Maybe if you just let me finish my statement. I don't want to but I would, just to spite you, and also reduce spending.
"Of course, can we go now both of you?"Summer pleaded at this point.
"Yes ma," they both replied and walked over to where the car was parked. The drive home was one hell of an awkward one as they all sat in silence, Spring and Autumn averting eyes.
We were different from other siblings; we didn't gist about our offices or boys or family. We didn't like each other, we just tolerated ourselves and we were fine with it. Summer watched them both in exasperation. This week was going to be a very long one.Winter kept sneezing at home and she wondered if she had caught a cold because it was very unusual, it didn't even rain yesterday and she didn't have a temperature. She went to her medicine cabinet and took a tablet of Aspirin and sat down, intending to call Spring later, but soon she found herself dozing in her fatigue.
It was a really bad day for Winter: she couldn't find the missing part in her case and everyone at the firm kept talking about the Exams and how anxious they were, Winter was scared shitless. Apart from the fact that becoming a Judge would be something to gloat about, if she failed, all the years she wasted doing what she never loved were years she would never get back and that scared her too much.
She woke up about 30minutes later and noticed her temperature had gone up. She picked up her phone and kept scrolling for who to call to get her to the hospital and then it dawned on her that she didn't have anyone to rely on. She'd been too fixated on work to form any tangible human ties. She was on her own and that fact scared her more than the fact that she could pass out here without anyone knowing. She blinked away the tears that were about spilling from her eyes and dialled 999
"999, what's your complaint?"
"I'm the only one at home and I have a high temperature and a terrible cold"
"What's your address ma'am?" The person asked
"28, Philips road."Winter replied, her vision starting to blur.
The last thing she heard was the siren of an ambulance probably coming to her house. She slipped into unconsciousness, the phone falling to the floor with a soft thump.P.s Bruno you are a sweetheart and I love you ♥️

SEASON SISTERS
ParanormalCompeting was everything we knew. We did much of it while growing up. It wasn't planned but each of us wanted acknowledgement, craved it even, as the best. Probably the reason for the bad blood and the decision to move to 4 different cities. Perhaps...
