Older me rushes to my aid before she chews me out. "Are you ok? " She places her soft hand on the back of my head after she kneeled to my level. "Yea I'm fine." I winced at her touch. "Jordyn be careful next time. If you get hurt here it affects you up there. " Up there? Oh, yea that’s what we call the real world. Where my actual body is. Where if I got hurt and someone says it up there no one would know how I got hurt. "How'd you fall? " She interrupted my thinking. "I don't know. It must have just given out right? " I didn't know what was going on and she continued " Well they can't have just given out. Your webs are extremely strong." They can't be cut either" I interrupted her this time. “ It doesn’t matter. I’m fine.” I want to know but I also want to relax and think a bit. I was thinking about what happened this morning. She helped me up and I felt a tap on my shoulder from behind me. “ Did you tap my shoulder?” I asked me what was across from me. “ No?” She cocked her head to the right just enough to see the shadow behind me. “ Jordyn,” She whispered, “ don’t move.” I could feel a presence breathing down my exposed neck. I whipped around and was met with this blurry figure that aura was dark and brooding. Her eyes were cold and lifeless as she stared at me. She had this look in her eyes that made the older me now behind me disappear. I was now alone with the shadow. I squeaked a sentence finally. “ Who are you?” I heard a faint whisper come from the shadow after a moment. “ The only thing scarier than the unknown is me.” the shadow disappeared when the light above turned on. I looked around me and when I turned back to where the shadow was my elder took her place. “Ahh!!” I jumped about 3 feet. “ Damnit why do you do that?” I held my hand to my heart to feel my heartbeat. When I looked back at my elder, her face was pale as if she had just seen families die because of her. “Woah Woah, hey what’s wrong?” I was concerned because she looked like that. “ I'm sorry.” She looked down at our feet. “ For what?” I tilted my head a bit. She looked up at me and had tears in her eyes. “ You weren’t supposed to meet her. She hurt you because of me. I was careless and stupid.” she dropped to her knees and I followed. “ Hey, it's ok. I’m fine. You didn't know this would happen. It’s fine.” I reassured her and moved forward to hug her. After a few moments we broke apart and I looked at her. “ you are gonna wake up soon” She put her hands to her head as if it's only been a week. I've been in a coma. 2 months went by fast and in a couple of hours I would wake up. I was happy I wouldn't have to see that shadow again while I was here. I heard faint voices that belonged to nurses and an impatient family. I felt jakes intertwined with my own. I felt a couple of strings here and there from equipment being pulled from my skin. The voices got louder and I realized someone’s voice was unfamiliar. The doctor that was in this room was a scientist. I heard the doctor tell Jake and his parents to leave the room to talk to mine. “ Your daughter has a blood mutation that I should warn you about.” the doctor stated. “ What kind of mutation?” my dad questioned the doctor with a stern and concerned attitude. “ she has some of the same characteristics as a spider.” There was a pause and after a second my mom blurted out. “From what?!” my dad calmed her down, the scientist continued. “ There is radiation in her blood from what we would think to be the spider she was bitten by. We don't think this will affect her in any way that will be noticeable. We would like to keep an eye on her if something were to happen because of the radiation.”
