"Jeongguk? What happened to the baby?" Jimin asked in a shaky voice, turning to look at the boy with wary eyes.
But he didn't see Jeongguk.
He saw a scared boy.
Jeongguk was shaking intensely, eyes trained only on his cereal bowl, unblinking, wide, and empty. He was biting his lip, and didn't even react to Jimin's voice.
"Gguk," Taehyung said urgently from beside him, reaching out to touch the boys shoulder.
Jeongguk threw himself up violently, and the chair he sat on tumbled back. Taehyung jumped up in surprise, as well as the rest of the boys.
"Jeongguk, calm down." Hoseok said slowly, as the boy breathed rapidly, stumbling backwards.
"I'm fine," He said sharply, his hands raising to curl in his hair. "Just- just- give me a second."
Turning he paced for a moment, completely trapped in his mind. He couldn't breathe, he couldn't think.
"Gguk-" Jimin began, but was cut off by Jeongguk moving quickly through the boys and out the kitchen.
"I'm going to take a nap. We'll finish talking later. I- I'm just tired- I need sleep-" He gasped out, shaking like a leaf, before turning again and jogging up the stairs. A few seconds later, they heard the door shut upstairs.
"Well that went great." Seokjin commented flatly, turning sharp eyes onto Yoongi. "You just really had to push him like that? Obviously, this is some big trauma in his life!"
"Hyung, it was important to know his intentions. I feel for the boy, I do, but I don't regret it. At least we know now." Yoongi said quietly, lowering his head.
"Bullshit!" Seokjin exploded. "The kids having a fucking panic attack! You're right, we don't know what's happened in his life, but he's entitled to secrets. I didn't interrogate you when I first met you about the shit you've gone through, Yoon! I waited! I let you open up on your own time! All of you!" Seokjin was ranting now, eyes dark.
"This boy has grown up in hell, and somehow made it out as a genuinely nice kid. I think that's proof enough of his intentions." Seokjin shook his head, eyes disappointed. "I thought you of everyone here would understand that, Yoongi."
The boy was silent, and a brief flicker of shame hung in his masked dark eyes.
"You're apologizing." Seokjin said, jabbing a finger at Yoongi. "As soon as he's back up. I won't make you share your sob story with him, but it'd be a good way to show him you aren't a complete dip shit. Because you sure looked like one tonight."
Yoongi was silent, and Seokjin took it as his answer.
"Now I'm going to bed too, because it is too god damn early to be awake."
And with that, Seokjin stormed out of the room.
"It's seven thirty," Taehyung spoke, a small smile quirking his lips.
"Tae," Yoongi spoke slowly, "Is that a hickey?"
"Okay, I'm going to bed too, goodnight guys!" Taehyung said in a rushed voice before disappearing at the speed of light.
Hoseok snickered.
"I'm going to do the same." Yoongi spoke, sniffling a yawn. "I've been up since five and I am done." Giving a lazy wave, he disappeared up stairs.
Namjoon picked up his bowl of cereal and placed it in the sink along with the rest of the dishes, a small sigh escaping his lips. Jimin and Hoseok watched curiously.
