A (mostly) chill chapter for my (mostly) chill readers.
Once the four of them returned to the dorm, they breathed a sigh of relief. None of them knew why they were holding their breath. Maybe it was because the thought of returning had been foreign to them. It was a strange feeling. The idea that all of this around them was a game that others had played before, had beaten, and maybe never even returned from. No matter the task assigned to them, they'd be able to do it.
"I'm bored!" Ban whined.
"Yeah, we've got the rest of the day to ourselves." Killua sighed, collapsing onto the couch.
"Hey! Let's play a game!" Ban zoomed to the TV stand and started pulling out board games. Capitalism, Oranges to Oranges, Scramble, The Adventures of Life, and other popular titles. Killua walked over to him and picked up a game.
"Let's play this one." He was holding up the box for Capitalism.
"Sure! Saiki, Gowther, let's play!" Ban motioned for them to come over.
"I will observe." Gowther sat on a reclining chair.
"Good grief. Must we?" Saiki muttered.
"Yes! Come on!" Killua grabbed him and they sat around the coffee table.
"Okay! So we start out with 160,000 yen (Approximately 1,500 USD)! Pick one of the characters... I'll be the cat!"
"I'm the hat~!" Ban grabbed the tiny metal piece.
"Uh... I'll be this one." Saiki picked up the metal boat.
"Okay! Put them on the 'GO!' tile, and let's play."
~45 minutes later~
"Ha! I own Ginza (Equivalent of Boardwalk in the Japanese version of the game)!" Killua laughed.
"I don't have enough money to pay you... Saiki... could you lend me some money...?" Ban begged.
"No. You still owe me money from when you landed on Akasaka (Park place)." Saiki refused.
"Looks like you'll have to sell me one of your Tetsudo (Railroads)!" Killua grinned.
"No! I'll give you Asakusa (One of the maroon places)!" Ban huffed.
"Hm... fine." Killua chuckled.
~30 minutes later~
"Saiki... you have two thirds of the board... you win okay?" Killua whined.
"You still owe me money. Sell your properties or declare bankruptcy." Saiki deadpanned.
"I-I'll sell my properties." He reluctantly sold some of them and gave Saiki the money.
"I lose~" Ban sighed. "I have no money left. Saiki, you're a demon." Ban relaxed into the couch.
"Ah, so it's my turn again." Saiki stated, examining the board.
.
.
.
"I LOSE! I'M DONE!" Killua flipped the table and stormed off.
"Oh. I won." Saiki declared as he watched Killua leave.
"Of course you did." Ban got off the couch.
"That was an interesting game. I learned a lot from it." Gowther had been watching the game very intently from the beginning.
"I'm making lunch~" Ban shouted. Saiki started to pick up the pieces of the board game when Killua came back in, sulking.
"It seems that Killua is still upset about his shortcomings in the last game."
"Be quiet, Gowther." Killua muttered.
"Ah, I've upset you even further." Gowther sighed. Killua muttered something under his breath, and then went into the kitchen. After about half an hour of Saiki and Gowther sitting in silence, Ban finished lunch and they all sat down to eat.
"Thank you for the food." Saiki deadpanned.
"Thanks for the food..." Killua grumbled, still mad about the game.
"Yes. Thanks." Gowther repeated.
"I still think this is stupid." Ban sighed. "But, thanks for the food." They ate quietly, none of them having anything to say. Ban spoke up.
"You remember that guy... Warren?" He asked.
"Duh." Killua rolled his eyes.
"You really are a child~" Ban smirked. Killua sighed, and realized that he was acting childish. Ban smiled and continued talking. "Can we trust 'em~?"
"When he spoke to us, he was honest." Gowther said.
"It's not a question of whether or not we can trust him." Killua stated.
"Killua's right. We don't have to trust him, but we have no choice but to listen to what he says." Saiki folded his arms and sighed.
"We can't blindly follow everyone who says they want to help." Ban got up and cleared the plates. "If he turns out to be an asshole, we'll kill him~" He shrugged.
"Works for me." Killua grinned and got up to help with the dishes.
"So, when someone does something you do not like, a viable option is to end their life." Gowther noted. For the rest of the afternoon, they all did their own things. Ban had a nap, Killua played video games, Saiki finished up homework and Gowther... watched Cartoon Interface Japan, for some reason.
At around five, they all went downstairs to discuss how they would address the situation at hand, and how much information they would give Warren. Half an hour later, came a knock at the door. The four of them got up and Saiki opened the door.
"Hello. May I come in?" Warren asked. They stepped back and let him in, closing the door after him. The five of them sat in the living room, Saiki, Gowther, Killua and Ban on the largest couch, and Warren sitting across from them. He sighed. "I'll be blunt, my company is corrupt. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to stop them from continuing to harm other human beings." He paused, contemplating whether or not he should keep talking. "Destroy my company, try to refrain from killing my employee's, but expect to when you go to face them. I take full responsibility for their lives. Finish my game for me, then I will send you back."
Woah! It's been a while (Like three weeks) since I updated so often! Nice!
