Madelaine's pov

Madelaine was torn.

She had an incredible date with Awsten the night before but when she stepped into her apartment all she felt was uncertainty. She saw that it was nearly midnight when she got back and she knew that Constantine was definitely up.

But she couldn't do it, she got ready for bed and forced herself to sleep. If she woke up randomly she didn't allow herself to get up and go to the livingroom. She told herself to stay locked in her bedroom because she couldn't handle the thought of having to talk to Constantine about how things went when she knew how she felt about him.

But after hours of no sleep and her thoughts sending her into a panick attack, she finally said enough was enough. She tossed the blankets off of her body as she checked her phone.

It was only 4am.

She slowly crept into her livingroom and stood near the walk. She heard movement through a Constantine's apartment. She let out a deep breath as she knocked on the wall, she got a response almost immediately.

"Hey Red." His voice said, she noticed that he didn't sound as cheery as he usually is.

"Hi."

"Are you okay? You sound kinda down." He says almost as if he could sense what she was feeling through the wall.

"You sound down too."

"So you're sad too? What's wrong?" He asked sounding pretty concerned. She smiled at the thought of him being worried about her.

"I could ask you the same thing." she let out a sigh before continuing "You first?"

"Sure yeah. Um... when I said I was going out to hang with my friends.. it was more than that. I've been... seeing someone. And I really like this person, I really do. They're amazing and we just connect so well and I feel like we just fit." He says with his voice dripping with fond, it hurt so bad to hear considering how she felt about him but.. she was happy for him.

"Oh, im happy for you Constantine" she cursed quietly as she heard her own voice crack and felt tears slowly falling down her cheeks. She sobbed quietly into her hands as she waited for him to continue speaking about the amazing girl he's been seeing while she'd been hiding her identity behind a wall like an idiot.

"While all of that is perfect, there's something in the way." He says with a sad tone.

"What's that?"

"You."

Her eyes widened, her jaw dropped, and her tears seemed to have stopped. Constantine felt the same way about her as she did for him? She couldn't believe it, she didn't know how.

"Me? What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean Red, we've been talking for two months now nearly every fucking day and we just get closer and closer with every talk we have. We've hot this connection that I just can't let go of, and I know it's stupid because I'm hiding behind a wall but.. I can't help it. I've... fallen for you, Red." He confesses with a shaky voice.

"I-Ive fallen for you too Constantine."

"W-Wait, really?" He asked like he sounds genuinely confused almost as if he never would've believed that she could feel the same for him.

"Yes, I've been so upset about it recently. Because I've been having so much trouble talking to you while getting to know somebody else. It's been tearing me apart. And it still is."

"So what I'm hearing is.. we need to meet." He says.

"Yeah, this is never gonna get any better until we cut the bullshit and see eachother in person."

"It's time." He responds gently.

Madelaine lets out a shaky breath and tangles her fingers in her hair. She pulls her legs to her chest and hides her head in her arms. She sits there for a few seconds and just let's everything out. She sobs loudly as Constantine tells her comforting words through the wall.

Was she really this stupid? Would she really give up what she had with Awsten for a stranger?

A stranger that she knew so much about, yet never seen his face. And there she goes, right down the spiral again.

She felt so horrible because she knew how much Awsten liked her and she knew how she felt about him. She knows how he's been hurt before and how people break his trust all the time, she didn't want to be one of those people who made him regret anything.

But at the same time, she just couldn't force herself to forget about how she felt about Constantine.

She had to know.

After taking a few minutes to collect herself and stop crying she finally was okay to speak again. She was a sniffling mess but she managed to force out a reply.

"Come to my apartment tomorrow at 12pm, I'll have one of my friends let you in okay?"

"Okay, I understand." He replies.

Though Madelaine was exhausted from crying,  a tiny smile pulled to her lips.

"Time to expose our identities, I hope you still like me once you figure out who I am."

"There is nothing in the world that could make me not like you, Red." He replies with his voice laced in fond.

"The feeling is mutual, Constantine."

WOOOOOH they're about to meet soon.. and by soon I mean the next chapter cause I dont feel like dragging the conversations through the wall tbh.

I think we've had enough chapters of that.

Okie.. I'm gonna go back to watching The Originals because I just started watching it and so far I love it.

Until next time 🤍
