*Description by Author*
There was something about him. Or maybe there was something about me. I didn't want him in my life but he ran into it; literally. He liked to hide in trees, irritate me, and read books; despite the fact that it went against his image. He was more than meets the eye. Although at first I didn't want to know more. He lured me in like an unsuspecting moth to an open flame. Knowing the dangers I went in, wanting to know more. It could hurt me but it was too irresistible and I was drawn in. This isn't how the bad boy made me bad or about how I made him good. This is about how we changed each other lives. In good and bad ways. Whatever that means. "I don't bite.... hard." He smirked at me, winking one of his bright hazel eyes at me. It only made me more frustrated. "Yeah but Hunter, if you did you'd probably give me rabies." I rolled my eyes looking back at the book in my hand.
Okay, so Chasing December is by the wonderful author who brought us ‘Temporarily His’. Now, I loved that story and I love this one. We have this girl named December (very unique) and she is your typical good girl in a nice neighborhood with her lovely mother and father who trust way too easily. But hey, you got a perfect daughter, you’re going to trust her right?
Enter Hunter, troublemaker extraordinaire. He doesn’t try and make trouble, he just is. Now you have Hunter taking a sudden interest in December (I bet you all my money that by the end of the story, you are going to find out that he has had a crush on December since who knows when, probably middle school or something). She tries to ignore him, her Uncle is a cop who has warned her plenty times about this kid. So what does she do? Naturally, she becomes close with him, it’s only fair she forms her own opinion on him. They hang out and she finds herself trusting him and becoming more comfortable. Now Hunter gets into a fight (no surprise, he can’t be too perfect) and goes to December. She takes him in again and again helping him. Seems fine right? Perfect friendship that is on the line of being a real relationship when December gets off her high horse of thinking all he wants is to sleep with her. Wrong.
I mentioned her uncle, right? Okay so take the mean uncle who tries his hardest to get Hunter out of his hair (seriously, when you read it you’ll see how crazy the dude is) and add Hunter’s older brother, Ryan. Dude is the definition of danger and trouble. I bet if you looked at a Thesaurus, next to Dangerous you’ll see him name. He takes an interest in December, wondering why Hunter likes her so much. He starts getting closer and closer to monster and scares her several times walking around like he is A in Pretty Little Liars. I kid you not, dude has serious issues.
Well, take the trouble of two relatives and add a group of rowdy friends with some romantic tension between December and Hunter and you get amazingness overload! It’s the cute things that Hunter does like call December anything BUT December (ex. May, June, September, Cember) and notice all the little times December pushes him into the bushes whenever they walk home or to school and her Uncles patrol car rolls by or whenever he isn’t around and she finds herself thinking of him or worrying about him. It- It just melts my shipping heart. I think it’s the fact that Hunter knows he can always fall back on December, literally pass out in her yard and know that even though he wasn’t fully there and doesn’t remember what happened, she took him in no question and that his subconscious will always be her name next to safety. THAT or it’s just the fact they live close to each other, could be either or.
I promise you will like this book. It is sweet, sassy, funny, a dash of heartfelt moments, and a sprinkle of dhgljkdfbgdfjajng;ng;ohdgjadng;jkdnfg;!!!!!!!! (<- that is extreme fangirling by the way) The character development is wonderful and the way the author goes about writing out scenes always sets the mood and tension for it. She adds characters at great times and doesn’t just throw them in whenever they are convenient. She keeps all characters, no matter how unnecessary they are to a situation, in the story and has them make little cameos just so we don’t forget about them. Which I LOVE. I cannot even begin to tell you how many stories I read where the friends were everywhere even when they shouldn’t be or how a character is introduced in chapter 1 and brought back in chapter 45 and I need to either wait 5 years for someone to comment who that character is or go back to the beginning and reread the entire story. If you asked me who Tristian or CJ are, I can easily tell you its Hunter’s best friend and a recent added character who was Hunter’s friend and now Decembers. They aren’t needed in every scene but I don’t forget them because the author simply puts them with another friend who is talking and has them just nod or join in the conversation. OR even just have them leave right after December walks in, regardless they ARE THERE CONSTANTLY YOU CAN’T FORGET THEM. DO YOU KNOW HOW HAPPY THAT MAKES ME!! THIS HAPPY

So if you couldn’t tell, I love this story, the author is spectacular and engages with readers whenever she can. If she can’t give us an update soon or as early as she promised, she explains and gives us a sneak peek into the chapter. I really really really recommend it if you love humor and teen fiction.
So yea, there’s that. I am currently in the library on campus writing this before my break is over and I have my next class. The stupid wifi is gone because too many are on it. Well I was watching Netflix before half these ninnies walked in. I will post this when I get home. Anyhow, my story is in the making please give it a try. Vote and Comment, especially if you have suggestions! AND THANK YOU TO @Lucky_240 for suggesting The Black Knight!
