Rain poured down mercilessly upon the heart of the city, pounding on the rooftops and turning the streets into a warren of slick pavement and muddy waters.

As Lauren uncovered her eyes from underneath the covers, she heard the gentle tapping of raindrops against her bedroom window. These were her favorite kind of days when she didn't have to feel bad about not leaving her apartment, especially when it was her day off.

Just as the first bite of cold breeze crept under her nightshirt, John's hand moved around her middle, warm and soft. In seconds, his body was molded to her own, sharing his body heat as easily as she shared her heart.

"Mornin'," John sleepily groaned in the middle of a yawn, "What time is it?"

Lauren peered an eye open in the darkroom, seeing the soft light trying to peer through her dark gray drapes, "I dunno," her hand reached across the remaining space of the mattress and onto her nightstand, blindly feeling for her phone.

Once grabbing her phone, she tapped the screen, revealing the time - 10:37 am.

"Past ten-thirty," she mumbled, setting her phone on the mattress, "God, I can't believe we slept so long."

John pressed himself closer to Lauren, moving her hair away from the right side of her neck, "Ya don't have to work today, do ya?"

She closed her eyes, knowing exactly what was on John's mind, "No.. why? You want to go somewhere today?"

"I figure we stay in bed all day," He leaned in, caressing her neck, slow and gentle, "Unless you don't wanna."

He was making her wait, and Lauren could hardly bear it. She could feel his warmth and hot breath against her skin, and his touch was the perfect invitation for this rainy day, "It's tempting, but I might need to be convinced."

As soon as his wet and soft lips imprinted on her neck, she lost all rational thought and was consumed by the thought of their mouths on each other all day. She couldn't believe how one touch of his lips could hitch her breath.

"Does that convince ya?" His index finger traced the back of her thigh, gently moving its way up to her waist, pausing for a reaction.

Lauren turned around, her majestic blue ones gazing longingly into his brown ones, not a word was spoken between them. The sight of John simply took her breath away. Ruggedly handsome, and sexy, his hair was in a frazzled mess, but she loved it. She felt the staccato beat of her heart that his piercing gaze created every time he gazed at her. She stared at him with a soft, doe-eyed expression, her lips parting only a fraction of an inch.

It was all John needed. Without a word, he rolled himself on top of her and leaned over, a small smile on his lips. His left hand came up to cup her cheek, softly offering his lips to hers. His kiss was as gentle as a butterfly at first, asking nothing of her but to receive what he tenderly delivered. The next movement of his mouth brought a little more pressure.

Her lips opened to feel the tip of his tongue gently teasing the tender flesh of her lower lip, "Mmm, good morning to you," she whispered through the soft moan that escaped her throat.

His fingers tightened instinctively on her neck, and pulled her body closer to his, deepening the kiss, leaving no doubt that there wouldn't be time for breakfast this morning. John wrapped his arms around her - one across her shoulders and the other under the curve of her bottom, rolling to his back and taking her in one fluid movement. Her bright blue eyes snapped open in surprise at finding herself neatly planted atop him - her thighs splayed on either side of his hips.
