CHAPTER 3

as she stood watching the traffic move outside her house she was thinking. what the hell had julianna meant by her words. 'something wicked your way comes....join us or die with the rest'? well the 'us' part was now clear, julianna was a Sihir. but nianna had no idea what the rest meant.. and she wouldn't get the answers standing at the window. she'd have to go find out herself. but where to begin...she could try reach julianna but had a feeling it would be no use. because nianna hadn't been able to sense her before, it must mean julianna had learned to hide her spirit, or more probable, she wasn't in this world.

the supernatural world didn't consist only of different beings, but also of different realms. there were four of them and each dimension belonged to one of the supernaturals. this world where nianna had lived for 15 years was called Lelaki, and it was the dimension of humans, or normies. here you could find an occasional supe, someone who had chosen to leave their realm and live a life without the super, just natural. they were mostly witches. or like  in niannas case, they had escaped here, hoping they could blend in.

the second was that of the werewolves, Serigala. it resembled the world of the humans most. nianna had only been there a few times but it had left an impression. it was green and luscious, forests and lakes as far as the eye can see. it was truly the most beautiful of the realms and nianna loved it. there was only few who wanted to leave to other dimensions, and even fewer who could survive there. werewolves needed the woods and the freedom like the air they breathe. most of the werewolves hadn't left Serigala and wouldn't if their lives depended on it.

the third was the kingdom of the vampires, Kecederaan. this was the place nianna had born. witches and vampires shared the realm but they didn't interact much. witches inhabited the north part of Kecederaan and vampires stuck to the dark south. the Sihirs lived with the vampires in the south. it was a rugged place, with stone buildings and castles where the ray of the sun didn't reach. no one ever went there unless forced. it was an eerie, cold, hostile place everyone knew to stay away from. the north on the other hand was a mixture of Lelaki and Serigala. it had a few of the forests and lakes of the werewolves and the wooden houses of the humans. it was a nice place, but with the shadows of the south casting a unpleasant air to it.

the fourth and last was truly horrible. not even vampires went there, no matter how much they loved the shadows. It was called Dilupakan, 'forgotten', and it contained the worst of the supernaturals. it was a place behind the sun, stuck in perpetual night and winter. nianna shuddered everytime she even thought the name Dulipakan. it was a place where the soulless went after meeting death, to wander til the end of days.

because she was a witch nianna could 'teleport' into any realm she wanted at any given time. all she had to do was envision a location in the particular dimension, concentrate, and when she opened her eyes she'd be there. but the problem was she didn't know where to go. the obvious would be Kecederaan, but she wasn't ready to turn up and face julianna just yet. she needed answers first. and if she was true to herself she wasn't ready to face the memories of her childhood. so, she would go to Serigala then. a little smile lightened her face for a second as she wondered whether Brody was still alive. now that she had someplace to start nianna felt better. she pushed julianna away from her thoughts and began preparing for the journey.

an hour later she was breathing fresh forest air of Serigala. she hadn't even realised how poor the air Lelaki had been. compared to the air here it was like she had been breathing garbage for the past 15 years. nianna felt her spirit lift and she was smiling as she took the few steps to the front door. she wasn't sure whether Brody still lived here. she hadn't seen him in 10 years. for all she knew brody was dead. still, she had nowhere else to go so she lifted her hand to knock. she could hear heavy footsteps inside and soon the door flung opened. as did her mouth.
