BRANDI'S POV

I force my eyes open as I hear the dreadful noise screaming out of my phone and lean over to shut it off. The noise is not a pleasant sound, especially at five in the morning, telling me I need to get up and get ready for the day. Today is the last day. I did it, I made it through another year of ridiculous essays and countless tests that I spent hours working on, only to receive a B+. As soon as the final bell rings, I will no longer be a sophomore.

I finally get out of bed and walk across the hall to the bathroom, I take a quick glance in the mirror and cringe when I see my reflection. My hair is a wild mess that I don't think even the great Paul Mitchell can tame. I should've brushed it as soon as I got out of the shower last night, I just didn't feel like it.

I finally manage to brush my hair and pull it into a pony tail, only to realize I don't like the look of it and pull the elastic out letting my hair fall freely. It looks decent after I take my straightener over the few pieces that refuse to cooperate on their own. After I pull my t-shirt over my head and slide into my usual pink Converse, I'm ready to go.

I take the stairs two at a time to make sure I can fit in a full breakfast before Dylan arrives. Just as I finish rinsing my dish and placing it in the dishwasher, Dylan struts in sporting his usual blue jeans and RVCA t-shirt.

"Ready?" He questions as walks over to the counter and grabs an apple out of the basket.

"Yeah, just let me grab my key." I say as I walk over to the rack holding my house key.

He leads the way out the front door and politely shuts it behind me. He's always been like this for as long as I can remember. So polite. Once in Kindergarten, I forgot my lunch on the play ground and it ended up raining. He gladly split his Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich with me and even let me eat his gummy snacks.

The day goes by as I expected it to for the last day, everyone waiting for the bell to ring signaling the start of summer. I look forward to summer every year, that's when my family and Dylan's family take a joint vacation. This summer it's off to Hawaii! I've been to Hawaii before, but I just love the blue of the water and the bonfires that attract some stragglers.

This summer is going to be amazing, I can feel it.

At the end of the day, I meet Dylan in our usual meeting place by the statue of a panther, our school mascot. We walk home talking about out trip, counting down the hours until we depart. As of right now, we have twelve hours to go. I don't mean to sound overly excited, but I am. I've had my bags packed for two weeks!

When we get to my house, I find something quick to snack on and head upstairs. Dylan and I end up watching 21 jump street and snack on junk food for the remainder of the night until Dylan falls asleep on the spare mattress on my floor. I don't last much longer after I turn out the lights.

"Wakey wakey! It's Hawaii time!" I'm startled awake by the sound of Dylan's voice echoing through my room and his arms pushing at my back.

We arrive at the airport at six am, two hours before I flight takes off. My mom has this OCD problem about making sure we have enough time to check our bags, get through security, and make it to our plane on time. We end up being the first ones on the plane and I can't help but laugh as we all team up on my mom about making us wake so early. After about forty five minutes, we are finally off!
