DYLAN'S POV
I wake up to the bright sun shining through the sheer curtains. Again, what is the purpose of these stupid see through curtains? There's something laying on me, but it's too heavy to be a blanket. I look down and see Brandi still passed out. My left arm is pinned between her and the couch completely numb. I don't want to wake her, she looks so peaceful but I can't feel my arm and I have to piss. I try to gently slide out from under her and lay her on the couch, but as soon as I put her down her eyes flutter open.
It takes her a minute to wake up and she looks at me.
"Sorry," I whisper "I tried to be gentle."
She replies with a groan and rolls over and falls back to sleep. When I get out of the restroom and walk to the kitchen I start to regain feeling in my arm. Brandi's dad is making a fresh pot of coffee when I walk in, he's in his 'casual attire' of Sperry's, Polo shirt, and khaki shorts. He's reading the newspaper at the counter, but looks up at me when I open the fridge.
"I'm making a fresh pot, care to join me? Kelly and your parents went to the country club for a bit." He says pulling out two mugs.
"Sure" I reply with no emotion in my voice.
We sit in silence for the first few minutes while he reads the paper and I stir my coffee, clanking the sides of the mug awkwardly. I start to think about last night, I don't even remember feeling tired. I just know I fell asleep and woke up with Brandi on me. Oh my god. Her dad didn't see us, did he?
Tom clears his throat before asking, "so um you and Brandi had an exhausting day yesterday?"
Shit.
I take a sip of the coffee and think about what to say, "no, not really. I mean we skated along the beach for most of they day. Then we came home and you guys were asleep, so we just put in a movie." I'm not exactly lying. 'You're not telling the truth either' my subconscious adds.
He starts laughing, why is he laughing? "Relax Dylan, you guys have been friends forever, I'm just asking."
"I know, sorry." I say shyly.
"I don't think it'd be too bad if you guys got together, in fact I'd be thrilled, if I'm being completely honest. You guys have been friends forever and I don't think there's anyone better for you two then each other." He takes a drink of coffee, laughs to himself and then stands up to walk out of the room.
I don't know how to feel about that, it I guess I'm happy that he feels that way. But what if we're wrong? I hope we aren't, I can't lose her.
BRANDI'S POV
I wake up on the couch around noon when the door flies open and my mom and Dylan's parents barge in through the front door. My mom smiles at me and walks over to me while Dylan's parents go into the kitchen.
"How'd you sleep sweetheart?" She asks sitting next to me on the couch.
"Fine, I guess." I yawn
She starts to stand up and walk away but she stops, "Would you like to come with me and Katy to the shops today?"
"Sure, just let me get ready." I get up and jog up the stairs. I haven't seen Dylan since this morning when he got up and woke me. After I throw on some jean shorts and a tank top, I brush my teeth and go downstairs to meet my mom and Katy in the car. Before I walked out, I found my dad getting his golf clubs ready in the garage and kissing him on the cheek goodbye.
As soon as I get in the car, my mom and Katy are in deep conversation so I plug my headphones in to my iPhone and hit shuffle. My music isn't all the way up so I can hear them talking. I don't think they know that though because they start talking about me and Dylan.
