Hello reader! I see you're curious about Nightfall. Let me tell you about it a little first. I've had the first volume planned since September 18, 2017. That's a long ways away, and only now am I showing it.
I've had plenty of times where I told myself I'd never get anywhere with my story. Hopefully that won't come true. I'd like to be known for being the creator of this series.
A little warning: There's a bit of swearing in this story somewhere. I hope you're not going to be too bothered by that..
Well, there's a lot to learn about the alternate universe the Nightfall Series takes place in. Here's a list of things to remember:
1. Just something random: Most of the characters in Nightfall are based after my Pokémon from the games. (Y, Moon, Ultra Moon, etc.) This includes their name, moveset, Natures, Abilities, and other things. Even their held items. Sometimes this is switched, I've based a Pokémon from the games after someone from Nightfall.
2. The chance of finding a Shiny Pokémon is higher, but they're still considered rare. There are a lot of characters in Nightfall who are Shiny Pokémon.
3. Some Pokémon can learn moves/do things that they normally can't.
Umbreon can learn Night Slash, and Ninetales can learn Fire Fang, and etc. I gave Gallade more ties to his Psychic typing; he can see the future and sense emotions like his Fairy counterpart.4. Some Pokémon can have slight differences in their appearance (based on genetics and all that).
Examples: A Zoroark may not have the red rimming around its eyes, nose, and mouth. A Raichu's tail might be shorter or longer than it usually is. A Liepard's colors could be much darker than they normally are. Or maybe a Honchkrow has 2 different colored eyes. A Seviper's markings on its body could be shaped differently. Perhaps a Lycanroc is taller than usual.
5. Pokémon have their Hidden Abilities, as well as their normal one, at the same time. For example, a Mienshao might have Regenerator as its Ability, but it will have its recoil moves powered up because of it also having Reckless. Long story short, Pokémon have 2 Abilities: Their first Ability and their Hidden one.
So a Gallade will have Steadfast and Justified, a Kommo-o will have either Bulletproof or Soundproof, with Overcoat. Umbreon has Synchronize and Inner Focus. (Gallade will not only have its Speed raised when it flinches, but its Attack will also be boosted when it's hit by a Dark-type move. Umbreon will be able to pass its status conditions to the culprit, and will also be immune to flinching.)
If a Pokémon has 2 first Abilities, obviously it's only going to have one, like Gardevoir, Luxray, and Toxtricity for example. They can only have one of the 2, I explained that with the Mienshao example. Clarification: Gardevoir can have either Trace or Synchronize, not both, but it will always have Telepathy. Luxray can only have either Intimidate or Rivalry, but it will always have the Guts Ability. Ya understand?
6. I've included my own fake items, Abilities, and Pokémon in this series, but they won't make an appearance in this volume.
EX: Destiny Link. (related to Destiny Knot) "An item to be held by a Pokémon. If held, it prevents the holder from being infatuated."
Psyinii and Rigon are some Fake Pokémon I included. (Rigon is part of a three-stage evolution line. Eidrib (Dragon) > Othem (Dragon) > Rigon (Dragon/Steel), as well as Mega Rigon). Psyinii is a Psychic/Rock solitary species, not known to evolve to or from anything, and it has no second form. There may be more Fakemon to come.
One of my own Abilites is one called Pellucid. "Can hit Dark-type Pokémon with Psychic-type moves."
7. Some humans can understand Psychic-type Pokémon. Their ability to do so is either gained naturally or by being trained.
8. Pokémon can have 2 characteristics. For example, a Pokémon can have the characteristics "Alert to sounds" and "Often lost in thought". Another one may have "Capable of taking hits" and "Thoroughly cunning".
9: I added two fanmade "species" of Pokémon, I guess you could say. Dark Pokémon are the main attraction of Nightfall, and this volume will explain everything you need to know.
Oh yeah, there's also Shadow Pokémon. And no, I'm not talking about Shadow Mons like XD001. Those don't exist here.
Nightfall's Shadow Pokémon live in an alternate world and their colors are completely black and white, or grayscale. Along with their colors, their alternate world lacks any colors besides black/white/gray. So no blue, red, or orange. Just black and white monochrome.
