The Dragon Crown

Chapter 6

Back at the Black Cat, we told Jack everything and discussed what we should do next. Jack looked at me and said, "You definitely need to get that book. It might tell where the crown was hidden away." I nodded, "I know, but it's in the castle library, which will make it tough to steal." Leo smiled at me, "It shouldn't be much trouble for the Black Rose though." I winked at him, "You got that right. Tonight, I will get that book."

Jack had my thief outfit fixed up, after my arm got sliced by Spirit's knife, the sleeve had a big tear in it. I hung out with Leo a bit and got a meal before we left tonight. I was sitting at the bar, eating and chatting with Leo, when there was suddenly an awkward silence. As I finished my meal, I tried to make conversation, "So, Leo, are you coming with me tonight?" "Of course, but are you sure you want to go tonight?" "Yeah, why?" "Well, I just wanted to make sure you were up for it, with you being injured and all." I simply giggled, "I told you, I'm fine, but thanks for worrying about me."

He smiled, "I always worry about you, every time you go out to steal something." My eyes widen as I look at him, "Really?" His face turned red as he replied, "Uh...well...yeah, your my friend, and I care about you." I narrow my eyes and lean in closer to his face, "Is that so?" He nervously replied, "Um...yeah." I look at him seriously, then bust out laughing, "Oh Leo, I'm only messing with you." "Uh, I knew that." I then notice that it's gotten dark out, so I stand up saying, "We'll leave soon, go get ready." He nodded and we went to our rooms and got dressed. As we left, Jack told us, "Good luck guys, I'll be waiting for you." We got Razor Beak and flew to the castle.

Razor Beak dropped us off, then flew up into the sky. We snuck into the castle, then headed to where the library was located. We managed to get into the library, but now we had to search for the right book. We scanned the shelves for the book, until we heard the big, double doors creak open. It was a guard making his rounds. We quickly hid, Leo under a big desk, and me behind a large statue. I couldn't see the guard, but I could tell by his footsteps and the light from his lantern that he passes right by us.

The guard walks through the library, then leaves once he's done. These guards aren't very thorough, what are they even payed for? We come out of hiding and continue our search. I suddenly hear Leo whisper, "Psst, Emmy, over here." I go over to the desk he hid under, only to see the book laying on top of it. "Huh, how'd we miss that?" He shrugs and I grab it. We head back to the doors, only for them to open in front of us. We quickly hide on either side of the doors, only to see Spirit was the one who entered. We snuck out behind him before the doors closed.

As we got to the exit, I heard a yell, "Someone's stolen the book!" Spirit must have noticed, we quickly rush outside and onto a roof and take off running. I whistle, and as Razor Beak comes and gets us, I can hear Spirit yelling, "It's the Black Rose, I should've known!" Leo and I quickly jump onto Razor Beak's back, and he takes off at top speed into the sky, easily losing Spirit and his guards. When we get back to the cafe, we change, then Jack joins us as we open the book.

There was a picture of the Dragon Crown, along with a lot of information that we read. The crown was split into pieces, each piece hidden away. If we do manage to put it back together, it will lead us to the Dragon City, the source of it's power. Luckily, having one piece of the crown will help guide you to the others. I then found some notes in other pages of the book, the king has indeed been searching for the crown. I then find a rough sketch of each individual piece of the crown, but one is marked out. My eyes widen, "Guys, the king already has a piece of the crown."
