Chapter 5
"This is a really good essay, Ms. Hart," the teacher said as she looked up from the third page.
I rolled my eyes and said, "Whatever," as I walked to my seat. There were a couple of kids already in class with me. I was just staring at my nails when I saw something from my peripheral vision. I looked up to see Damon by the door, staring at me.
I cocked my brow at him. What's he doing here? He doesn't take this class.
He just gives me a look, bobbing his head. I scrunch my nose to show him that I don't understand what he means. He stares at me dully. I groaned, getting up from my seat.
"What's up?" I asked cheerfully.
"Where were you last night? Colton called me to tell me that you just left the house," he said. I wanted to give attitude, but I have a reputation.
I have to act according to the script: be the desperate hoe.
"I-I was going to Brook's but then I met up with James at Walmart," I fibbed.
"Colton also said you did not come home until 7 in the morning," he added.
Gawd, Colton is such a tattle-tale. Damn him!
My lips started to form into a flirtatious smirk, "All you got to do is ask, Damon. Do you want me to spend the night at yours as well?"
He scrunches his nose. From my peripheral vision, I see a guy standing next to me. I turn my head to see Marco's face. "Hi, Hart," he grinned. I noticed the bags under his eyes and how his eyes looked dull.
I opened my mouth to greet him but I stopped when I realized that Damon was still standing in front of me. As far as he knows, the only people I would dare talk to is himself, Brook, Maddison, and everyone else that sits on our lunch table.
"Ew," I scowled next to Marco. Instantly, I see a flash of hurt in his eyes. He mumbles something underneath his breath then walks away.
"What happened between you and James?" Damon started interogating me again.
I let my hands rest on his chest gently, "It doesn't matter. What matter is that if ever you want me to come over, you won't have to worry about Brook? Or, the new girl, finding out. I won't tell a soul."
With this, Damon was extremely disgusted. He pushes my hands away and walks out the room, bumping shoulder to the guy who just walked in.
I turn around to sit back on my seat. I glanced at Marco, whose head rested on the table. Class started and felt like a drag. When it finally ended, the teacher tells me and Marco to not leave yet. She wanted to talk to us about our essays.
"She's probably going to be assigned to be tutored by the creep," I hear one of the jocks say to another jock.
"I'm so glad she did not choose me to tutor Minion #1," I hear a nerd say to Ms. Nerd. I just ignored it and walked over to the teacher's table. Of course, she waited for everyone else to leave.
"I have to say," the teacher started, "you two's essay were very well-written. It's like you two knew each other since birth." I just snort a small chuckle while Marco remained his usual self.
"Can I go now?" I whined, holding unto the strap of my purse.
"I wasn't expecting anything like this. I am very impress, especially for you Ms. Hart, and just for that, I give the both of you free period for the whole next week for my class," she exclaimed. My mouth gapes. Marco stared at her dully and sillently.
