Avery
Sitting with Quinn in physics those past two days had been hell and I had to do it again today. Trevor was not back at school still, but he was texting me now. I sat alone in English and art and at lunch I went home. walking to and from school at lunch took up half the time but I had no one. Jordon had suggested I sit with him in English, but I didn't want to talk to him. In math we were very silent. I walked down the crowded hallway to the door to walk home. I saw Talia walking towards me. Her face lit up as she laid eyes on me and I saw her start to walk over to me. I quickly turned around and sped-walk through the hallway so I wouldn't have to talk to her. Ever since our awkward night spent together and her fooling around with some girl, I have been avoiding her. I couldn't believe she was so easy to turn me down and then finger some random girl the next day. She also knew I was avoiding Quinn and forced me to sit beside her. I was so mad at her. Was I really that gross? She slept with every girl ever but not me. She even slept with fucking Skylar and not me. As I made my way to the other door at the other end up the school, I saw Jordon standing with Dominic and Polly. I was confused as Polly and Jordon had stopped sleeping together a long time ago. I tried to hide in the crowd of people so he wouldn't see me. I made it past him and let out the breath I hadn't realized I was holding in.
"Avery! Come here!" I stopped in my tracks and turned to see Jordon waving over at me. I reluctantly walked towards him.
"Sit with us at lunch?" Dominic asked taking me by surprise. I smiled awkwardly but agreed to anyway. I was caught and it would be rude to say no. All four of us walked to the cafeteria together. Jordon looked ecstatic as he always did, and he leaned closer to me.
"I am glad you're sitting with us." He whispered in. I was still mad at him. I know he didn't mean to, but I just couldn't help but be mad. In the cafeteria I sat at the table with the popular football players and a few cheerleaders. This felt off and unnatural. All of them were talking so loudly and at the same time, I didn't know what to focus on. I looked over at my usual table and noticed Skylar glaring at me. I quickly looked away. Jordon leaned closer to me again.
"Don't let Skylar get to you," he whispered. I nodded. The one bonus is that Skylar's revenge on me ended up backfiring since now Jordon didn't like her at all. I listened to the many different conversations going on around me but remained silent. It felt weird sitting at this table. A few of the football players talked about the football game tonight, which was another home game I wouldn't be attending.
...
After lunch I started my way to math, walking alone since Jordon was skipping today for a quick practice for football. I felt someone tap my shoulder and I turned to see George standing behind me. He looked more awkward than usual.
"Hey, Avery, I am...uh... sorry... uh about what happened. I, a, I didn't mean to take Skylar's side when the whole thing went down she just said that you were ditching her for Jordon so I thought you were being a traitor but uh, you weren't well, I don't know if you were or not but I still think it was bad of Skylar to text that to the groupchat later and thinking back on it, it is kind of awkward that we both had a crush on Quinn." He kept shifting his weight from one foot to the other. I was surprised by his approach. I thought Skylar had taken him to the dark side. I nervously laughed not knowing how to respond. It did take him three days to come and talk to me after hearing everything that went down.
"The only reason I was hanging out with Jordon was because he has been the only one there for me lately. I didn't mean to start this whole drama thing, but Skylar has been quite distant to me this year and when Jordon and I became friends I didn't want Skylar to ruin that." I replied. I was starting to feel bad about keeping the whole Jordon and me thing a secret. I was just so tired of Skylar making everything about her lately.
