Talia
I laid on the bed contemplating whether I should take some pills or not. I felt bad taking pills here because it felt like betrayal, but I was in desperate need of a high. I heard footsteps enter my room.
"Can I please braid your hair," Cecilia whined for the fifth time today. she had been bugging me for the past week to let her braid my hair. I needed a distraction from the craving of drugs so reluctantly said yes. I followed her to the living room where she had set out a brush and hair ties.
"Good luck getting that brush through my hair," I said and fell on the couch. She nudged me off the couch and onto the floor so she could sit on the couch and do my hair. She started ruffling my hair, clearly realizing it was too curly for her to do anything with. Nevertheless, she started to attempt to brush and braid it.
"So, Talia, who was your first girl crush?" Cecilia asked.
"Emma Watson, specifically in Harry Potter," I laughed.
"Ohhhh, is that why you were so obsessed with Harry Potter when you were younger?" She giggled.
"Probably," I chucked, thinking back on my obsession with Hermione.
"You?" I asked, I knew she only asked this question so I would ask her back. I felt her tug on my hair more, which was painful, but I felt too awkward to say anything.
"Selena Gomez in Wizards of Waverly Place," she said, and I smiled.
"Yeah," I sighed agreeing.
There was a knocking at the door and then the doorbell rang. I turned back to Cecilia but she just stared at me.
"Shouldn't we get that?" I asked. She shrugged.
"Jordon is doing homework and Kiara isn't home." I said, she shrugged again so I stood up. I walked out of the living room to the front door. I opened it and my jaw dropped. Avery stood at my door, hair and workout clothes soaking wet and a red face. She shivered standing under the porch light. It was pitch-black and raining outside. She looked confused as she stared at me.
"Avery?" I said and moved back to welcome her in. As she entered the house, she stared at me. I closed the door behind her.
"Umm, is Jordon here?" She asked, staring at me still. I heard Cecilia scream for Jordon, as she was clearly eavesdropping on us. Avery lightly laughed and looked down at her wet running shoes. I heard Jordon's loud footsteps come running down the upstairs hallway. I turned around to see him make his way down the stairs in nothing but boxers. It started to dawn on me now, why was Avery here? Was she... sleeping with Jordon...?
"Avery?!" He said with surprise. I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding in.
"Jordon! Did you tell Quinn I had a crush on her?" she whispered so quietly. It looked like she wanted to scream but only a whisper came out. So I was right about her obvious crush on Quinn.
"Umm... well... I didn't exactly tell her. I didn't mean to. I swear I wasn't trying to." He choked, now standing beside me in the entrance. "Talia, leave." He said and nudged me away.
"No, this seems interesting." I replied taking a seat on the small bench.
"What do you mean?!" Avery said and pushed Jordon's shoulder, in a girlfriend way, which was odd to see.
"So, Quinn came up to me after Math and was like 'Hey Jordon, Skylar told me Avery has a crush on me, is that true?' and I was all like 'No, what do you mean?' and it was very believable because I'm an awesome liar and then she totally tricked me and said 'oh haha, Avery already confessed her feelings to me anyway, I was just testing whether you could keep a secret and you passed' and she laughed and I stupidly believed her and replied 'oh, so she told you? What does that mean? Are you like... into her as well?' and it was just so bad. Her stupid fucking face as I said that. I wanted to die. And I meant to tell you but then Trevor called me and threatened me because he thought I told her, which I did, so I got scared." He blurted out, running a hand through his blond hair. My eyes were wide as I stared at the both of them. This explained Avery's decision to sit beside me in physics. I watched Avery's face drop. She looked like she wanted to cry. She turned around and reached for the doorknob.
