FRIDAY, JULY 27
⟶ 1:46 PM"BYE, LOVE YOU! Have fun, Eli! Good luck!" I wave from the front door. It's been one week since the night at the rink, and I hate to admit that I've gone back twice hoping that the guys would for some reason decide to go back. I know it's stupid, obviously they have their own rink that they practice at for the NTDP, but a girl can wonder, right?
Mom and Dad are taking Eli out of town for a tournament his summer league is having this weekend, and since Liam and I typically go to all of his home games they said it would be okay if we sat this one out and stayed home. I close the door and retreat to the kitchen to make chicken quesadilla's for lunch. Erin and Kate are already on their way over, hopefully with bags packed because I told them they could stay for the weekend until the rest of my family gets back into town.
I blast the music playing on the radio, bouncing around the kitchen as gather all the supplies and ingredients I'll need to make lunch for the three of us. I put the chicken into a pan on the hot stove, lay out the tortilla shells, pour the cheeses into a bowl, and pick out each of my friend's favorite seasonings to add to the chicken.
Liam walks into the kitchen with a mouthful of turkey sandwich, "Why do you have so much food out?" he asks.
"Because I'm really hungry," I say sarcastically, "Erin and Kate are coming over for the weekend and I'm making quesadilla's for lunch."
"What? No! There's no way I can survive as the only guy in this house for the next three days," Liam groans.
"It's a good thing it's only two days then," I correct him with a grin.
"You know what I meant, smartass," he fires back, walking out of the kitchen. Most likely going back upstairs to his cave of a bedroom. "I've gotta make some calls," he mumbles, and then I'm alone again.
My phone vibrates on the island so I pick it up to check the notification,

Just come in when u get here.
I finish making our food just as my friends walk through the door, "We're putting our bags in your room! Be down in a sec," Erin calls out as I hear their footsteps travelling upstairs. I arrange their food nicely at the bar with glasses of lemonade and leave my own on the counter across from theirs. Looking at my arrangement, I realize it's me. I'm the mom friend. And honestly I can say I'm pretty content with that.
Erin and Kate join me back in the kitchen, "Erin, Kate," I say pointing to each of the plates so they don't accidentally eat the one with the wrong seasoning.
