SUNDAY, AUGUST 5
⟶ 10:45 AM"WHY DO I DO THIS? Why do I do this to myself? Why do I do this to myself! " I groan into my pillow and tug the blanet over my head to block out all the light flooding through the blinds.
Erin thows something at my head which only increases the thrubbing headache I already have. "Shut up! You're talking too loud," she says surprisingly loud.
"You're BOTH being too loud and if BOTH of you don't shut up we're going to have a problem," Kate threatens.
I hear faint footsteps skipping down the stairs, and soon Hadley's chipper voice follows. "Good morning my loves! I heard the familiar sound of yelling and figured you guys had finally woken up. We've got eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, fruit, bagels, and a lot of coffee waiting upstairs!" Of all people, how the hell is Hadley already awake with breakfast ready? I could have sworn she was just as wasted as everyone else last night, especially since it was her birthday.
"What is wrong with you?" Erin grunts.
I roll over, sliding the blanket down my body so I can see all my friends. "Thanks, H. What would we do without you?" She smiles and waves off my compliment before turning around to return upstairs.
After Erin, Kate, and I all drag ourselves off of Hadley's cloud-like couches, we trudge upstairs to join the land of the living. Liz, Kaia, and Mikey all sit at the kitchen table looking like they've walked through hell and back much like us three, so I make a plate stacked with every option available before pouring a mug full of coffee.
"Damn, you guys look like shit," Liz laughs as she shovels hashbrowns into her mouth.
"Oh really? I got all dolled up just for you, babe," Kate says sarcastically with a flip of her long brown hair.
I sit across from Mikey who nudges me with his foot under the table, "How are you feeling lover girl?" I almost spit out my coffee when I hear the nick name roll off his tongue. Lover girl? Where is he getting that from?
"Excuse me?"
The look on his face tells me he's about to give me one embarrassing story. "You heard me, I mean after the cute little show last night I thought it would be obvious."
Oh yeah, I forgot Mikey is usually the only sober one at parties on account that he doesn't like to drink because he says he finds it more enjoyable to watch everyone else embarrass themselves than forget about everything. Honestly, I see where he's coming from.
"Enlighten me," I say, squinting at him intensely.
My curly haired friend smirks, "Well, you and your new hockey boyfriend were getting adorably close last night in the pool... and after you guys got out of the pool... and as he was leaving. I guess it wasn't just him, you were getting pretty handsy with all of them when you guys were saying goodbye. I always forget about how cute drunk Jo is," he finishes in a fit of giggles, causing my cheeks to start heating up.
