JACK GRABS A BLUE BASKET and I lead him toward the pasta aisle first. "So what's the secret?" he asks.

I look up at him, confused, "The secret?"

"The secret to making your to-die-for mac and cheese," he repeats. I try to think of something that could be a "secret," but honestly I don't have any big secret to making it, it's as simple as just grabbing the same ingredients and mixing them together in a pot.

I let myself brag a little, "I wouldn't call it a secret, I just mix a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and it's amazing." Even though it's a simple dish it's the one thing my family and friends request I make over and over again. Jack rolls his eyes, mocking the way I sing 'amazing.'

"Careful, Jack, you're walking on thin ice."

He chuckles and turns his attention to the shelves, "So what kind of noodles do you need?" he asks, looking over the dozens of different types and shapes of pasta.

"Doesn't matter as long as it's not spaghetti noodles or something. You can choose," I tell him.

Jack's face lights up knowing he gets to pick, and he immediately starts scanning over all the different options. He looks so focused as he pulls out bag after bag to try to figure out what shape each one is in, it's kind of cute the way his eyebrows furrow in concentration. I don't even realize I'm staring until Jack turns his head toward me and a smile forms across his lips, "These work?" he asks, holding up a pack of bow tie noodles.

I mentally shake myself from my daze and nod, "Yeah, perfect," I smile, "Grab two of those and we'll go get the cheese." Jack takes another one off the shelf and puts them in the basket.

"Lead the way, Chef Wyatt," Jack says, waiting for me to take him to the cold section. "Okay, what is your dream vacation?" he continues our impromptu  game of twenty-one questions.

"Either Hawaii or Italy," I say, because I've never been able to decide which destination I'd rather go to. On the one hand, Hawaii has beautiful beaches, blue water, rolling hills, topical everything. And then there is Italy which has gorgeous buildings, water absolutely everywhere, and old architecture.

Jack shakes his head, "If you had to choose one, though?"

"Umm... probably Italy then since it's out of the country and I love Italian food." When it comes down to it, my favorite food is Italian so at least I know I'll enjoy the food. "What about you?"

He pauses to think about it, "I think I'd want to go to Greece. I've always heard about it and seen the pictures, it just looks incredible." By now we've made it to the cold section, but I listen to Jack's explanation until he's finished painting the picture of Greece for me here in front of the cheese section.
