(2) The Accidental Feel Up

It had been two weeks since she moved back to NY. She was about to work a 48 hour shift. As she was standing in the kitchen waiting for the coffee maker to be done.

Bucky woke up to empty bed he heard noises and smelled coffee. He walked down stairs when he walked in all he saw was brown hair.

He smirked and snuck up behind Ashtyn. He grabbed her breasts and whispered "Why don't you come back to bed?"

"James wrong one.." she said

He quickly let go. "I am sorry Ash. I thought you were Ari from behind." He said as he walked away.

"Its fine..you didnt know James." She said as she poured coffee in her to go mug.

"Yeah..but again Im sorry." He said

She walked off to her room to finish getting ready. Bucky and her rode to work together. It was awkward ride to work.

When it came time for the chief resident to hand out assignments. Bucky came over to Dr Fitz.

"Dr Fitz I need a intern to scrub in for my surgery." Bucky said

"Dr Burkhart you are on Dr Barnes service today." Dr Fitz said

Bucky swallowed hard when he seen her. Dr Allie Franklin another intern said "What's with your brother in law?' In a low tone.

"He thought I was my sister this morning. He accidental felt my boobs." She whispered.

"Dr Burkhart lets go. I dont have all day." Bucky said

She followed him to the elevator. When they were inside he looked over at her. "You havent told your sister have you?" He said

"What? That you accidentally felt me up cause you thought I was her. No I havent even seen my sister." She said

"Ash..please. I feel horrible Im still not use to you being there." He said

"And I said its fine. Im not a virgin I have had sex before. Its not like Im this religous virgin. It was a accident just drop it." She said as the elevator opened.

She followed him to the patient's room. "Dr Burkhart this is our patient Sarah Propes she came in this morning with on set paralysis. I need you to get me some lab work done and a MRI done." He said as he handed her chart to Ashtyn.

"Yes Dr Barnes." She said

"Page me when you get the results." Bucky said as he left.

"Yes sir." She said

Ashtyn drew some blood and took Sarah to the MRI machine. Two hours later as she did some charting for Bucky's other patients she was paged to radiology.

She picked up the blood work and MRI results. Bucky was talking to Sam and Steve when she paged him. He found her in the lab room he put her films on the light.

She turned her head to the side. "Dr Barnes..is that two tumors on her spine?" She said

"Yes it is. That would certainly explain the on set paralysis. Probably started out small and as they grew to this size it wasnt a problem till now." He said

He put the films back in the envelope. "Lets go tell her the bad news." He said

When they got on the elevator. "So..what are you going to do?" She said

"Im going to go in and remove them if she consents." He said

"And if she doesnt?" She said

"Then we will explain to her what her life will be like from her on. That usually gets patients to change their mind." He said

"Oh..okay." she said as she looked down.

"Ash.." he said

"How does someone wait this long to get medical help? I.." she said

"Ashtyn she probably didnt even know she had these till today. Like I said they probably weren't bothering her till today." He said

She shook her head yes as she bit her lip. They went into Sarah's room where she was talking to her husband.

"Mrs Propes we have your results from your MRI. It appears that you have two tumors on your spine. That is what is causing the paralysis. So what I want to do is go in and remove them? Once we do that you should start to feel better and feel everything again." Bucky said

Sarah looked down. "You knew?" Ashtyn said

"She was having a lot of back pain in the beginning but she wanted a baby. So we told the doctors no to surgery...the back pain got worse then today..she fell in the shower." Mr Propes said

"How long?" Bucky said

"4 years. We have a 3 year old daughter and a 1 year old son." Sarah said as she wiped tears.

"Sarah we need to do the surgery if you want to be able to walk again. We cant wait any longer.." Bucky said

"Okay.." Sarah said

"Book an OR Dr Burkhart." Bucky said and walked out.

Two hours later Ashtyn scrubbed in and watched as he removed the tumors. When it was over she went with him to update Sarah's husband.

As they were walking away. "Are you on call tonight?" He said

"Yes. Im working a 48 hour shift right now." She said

"Good. Monitor her over night keep me posted and page me if anything changes." He said

"Where will you be?" She said

"In Brooklyn. Its my parents 60th wedding anniversary party." He said

"Oh.." she said

"You will be fine Dr Burkhart." He said as the elevator doors close.

She walked away to find a on call room on the icu floor.
