A/N ^Bottom Row: Katherine,Jasper and Vivian.^
It was a month later and a week before Thanksgiving. Bucky was paged to the ER.
"I was paged." Bucky said as he walked to the nurse's station.
The nurse hands him a chart "Private Trauma Room 3. Its Dr Katherine Cooper-Baylor." The nurse said as she walked with him.
"What the hell?" Bucky said
"They brought her in after the nursing home aide found her on the floor." The nurse said as they went into the room.
Bucky put her chart down and began to assess her. He checked her eyes and any head trauma.
"Katherine can you hear me?" He said as he held her hand.
"If you can hear me squeeze my hand.." he said as he tried to see if she had any kind of brain activity.
"Page my sister Dr Ruthie Jacobs." Bucky said as he listened to her heart.
"Lets get her to CT..did anyone from the nursing home come in?" Bucky said
"In the waiting area. The aide that found her came in." The nurse said
Bucky found the aide. "Dr Barnes?" She said
"Yes ma'am. Do you know how long she was on the floor?' He said
"No. I woke her up at 8 for breakfast. She got up and went to the bathroom as I left the room. When I came back to help her get dressed she was on the floor. I wasnt gone but twenty minutes." The aide said
"Okay thank you.." he said as he went up to CT to meet his sister Ruthie.
"God..James she had a massive stroke. Look at that clot.." Ruthie said
As the scans continued to come through. They were examining them as the saw another clot in her legs.
"Her hippocampus is barely visible. She has no clue who she is." Bucky said as he looked at all the head CT results.
"She doesnt have much time. Her Alzheimer's has progressed rapidly in the 5 years since she has been diagnosed." James said as he stood behind Bucky.
"She was already experiencing sundowners when Ari convinced her that something was wrong." Bucky said as he put the films back in the envelope.
"And her heart isnt strong enough for surgery right now. And these clots.." Ruthie said as she read the other films.
As they were discussing everything the tech said. "Guys..she is crashing."
They all ran in there and pulled her out of the MRI machine. They called a code blue and grabbed the paddles. Bucky shocked her three times with the paddles.
"Come on Katherine." He whispered on the last try.
They finally got her heart going again. Ruthie intebuted her and they admitted her to the CCU floor. Bucky found Arianna coming out of a patient's room on the Peds floor.
"Hey Ari. Um your mother has been admitted." He said
"My mom? What happened?" She said
Bucky explained everything to her. He took her up to Katherine's room. "She wasn't DNR was she?" Ruthie said
"No..so she has no brain activity?" She said
"No darlin. Her films were bad Ruthie said she is too weak for surgery." Bucky said
Arianna walked out and leaned against the wall. She pulled out her phone to scroll through her contacts. She found her dad's contact info.
Jasper was at home making dinner with Vivian.
