__Tony__
The team decided that it was time to find out who exactly Spiderman was. "We deserve to know." I decide with anger hot on my tongue. We're still sitting at the table, we haven't even cleaned up yet.
"I disagree." Natasha combats, "It's his life. Kid's been through a lot. He has his reasons. I say we let him be." She stands and sets her plate down in the sink to wash.
"Regardless of how hard his life has been, he's still Tony's kid. Peter needs to tell Tony when his life is in jeopardy." Steve argues with Natasha, crossing his arms in defense as he turns around to face her.
"Back it up, Peter is not Tony's kid." Clint scoffs. He's sitting in his chair backwards, like the original, angsty middle aged dad he is.
"No, he's not." Stephen backs Clint up. I sigh heavily and run a hand down my face.
I lean against my arm, elbow on the tabletop. "Either way, they're both gonna be my kids eventually."
"If they say yes to the adoption." Nat contests from the kitchen. She comes back and sits down at the table, arms crossed on the tabletop. "You can't expect those boys to just be okay with that."
"True." I nod my head at her and stare down at my cold plate of spaghetti. "I think it's time one of them told me. I mean, it's a life on the line. One of my kids puts his life in danger, I think I deserve to know."
"I don't know." Wanda shrugs as she continues to eat her dinner. "I think you should wait."
"Maybe if I yell at them enough, they'll tell me." I scratch the back of my head in thought.
"That is a terrible idea, Tony." Bruce sighs deeply as he looks up at the ceiling. "How on earth did you get that agency to approve an adoption?"
"Wouldn't you like to know." I smirk at my joke.
"God, Tony!" Natasha shouts and slaps my arm.
"I was joking!" I defend myself and raise my palms in the air. We all sit there in thought for another moment. "I'm gonna get them to tell me."
"Well, I'm staying." Natasha purses her lips.
"Me too." Steve sighs as he puts the napkin down on his plate.
"I'm not letting you haggle Peter for all he's got, so I'm not leaving." Clint crosses his arms and holds his stance.
"That reminds me—" Tony points a finger at Clint as he recalls Eddie's alibi for leaving the lab earlier this morning. "Did you break your controller? And ask Eddie for help fixing it?"
Clint tenses, looks over to his X-Box, gestures to the broken controller, and says "What do you think?"
"Did Eddie break your controller to try to create a reliable alibi?" I raise an eyebrow at the bird man.
Silence. "I can neither confirm nor deny this..." Clint mutters as he squints harshly at me. Yeah, Clint's too loyal to sell Eddie out like that anyways. I should've known.
"Peter is on his way up." Friday alerts me. I groan and stand from my chair, facing the elevator doors hesitantly. I really don't want to deal with this right now. They lied to me. They deserve to be punished. I was just never the 'punishing' kind of guy.
