_______

Today was the banquet.

Fingers crossed it doesn't go up in flames!

My eyes peep open, unwelcomed to the bright light. Who the heck thought it was a good idea to make an entire wall of a bedroom a window?

What time is it? Shouldn't I be at school?

My arms stretch up above me as I yawn. My limbs stretch out in all directions as I stretch, then they all flop down onto the bed as I re-shut me eyes.

Eddie.

My eyes shoot open. I fly out of my bed, running for the door. Bursting into Eddie's room beside mine, my eyes scan the room for any sign of my brother. Where is he? Is he okay?!

I book it for the living room, frantic to find my missing brother. "Eddie!" I call out as I run.

"Peter?" I hear Tony reply as soon as I make it to the common area. My eyes find Eddie sitting at the island, unharmed and happily munching on a plate of rare steak.

"Eddie!" I exclaim and run up to hug my brother. At first, he seems startled to encounter such a close, intimate human interaction, but he quickly falls into it as if he'd experienced this millions of times. "You're okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay." He laughs confusedly as his eyes dart around my face. "Sorry about yesterday. Tony told me you had to carry me all the way from Queens."

"Oh, it's fine." I wave him off and take a deep breath. Eddie's okay!! "What happened?" I sigh in relief.

"I'll tell you later." Eddie sighs deeply and turns his attention back to his food.

"Eddie—" I start as I share a glance with Tony. What is he hiding?

"Peter." Eddie's eyes dart up to meet mine, something hidden and insinuated in them. "I'll tell you later."

"OH." It finally clicks for me—he can't tell me now because Tony can't know we were at Oscorp! Oh, I'm so dumb. I wonder what Eddie told Tony for an excuse...?

"Pete?" Tony grasps my attention with a wave of his hand. "Breakfast." He demands, snaps his fingers, and points a finger at the chair next to Eddie's.

There sits a plate full of eggs, bacon, and 3 slices of toast. That is a lot of food. "Thanks, Tony." I smile up at him as I sit at the island.

"So, you excited for the banquet tonight?" Steve raises his eyebrows at me expectantly as he passes by, full trash bag in hand. He presses a button on the wall next to the elevator and a chute opens up. Without hesitating, he tosses the bag down the shaft.  The chute closes after the bag is out of sight. So, that's where the garbage goes!

"So excited." I give a very lackluster reply. My spider sense has been freaking out every time I even think of the banquet, but I don't want to worry Tony so I haven't mentioned it. I'll just have to keep an eye out tonight.

"Was that sarcasm I detected, Parker?" Natasha raises an eyebrow at me as she meanders into the kitchen.

"Of course not!" I exclaim as I look to make eye contact with Natasha. I don't want to ruin everyone's night by mentioning my stupid, uneasy feeling, but my spider sense is always right about these things. Maybe it'll only be me in danger. Guess we'll see!
