The sun was just rising above the horizon when Emma began to stir. The first confusion she had was why her cheek was sore. The second was the warm body pressed into her back. The it all came back to her. The fight with David and him striking her. She felt the other person pull her closer and rolled so she was tucked beneath his chin. Hook rubbed her back and whispered softly to her until the tears subsided. He pushed her back and examined her face. There was the faintest outline of a bruise. Emma pressed back against him as he growled angrily at the thought of someone laying a hand on her.
"Killian, please calm down. I'm safe, here with you." she whispered softly and pressed closer to him.
"I still can't believe he struck you. You're his daughter!" hissed Killian pulling her closer.
"A daughter who insulted him and has more power in this town. He was a king Killian and now he answers to his own daughter. I can understand..." Emma explained.
"No Emma, no matter the reasoning he never should have struck you. Do you understand me? No one ever has that right." Killian stated as he kissed her forehead.
"I understand, Killian." replied Emma.
She glanced at the battery powered analog clock sitting on the side table and cursed as she leapt out of bed and began to dress. Killian sat up and glanced at the time, 7:30 am. He grumbled and fell back onto the bed.
"Swan you still have half an hour relax." He groaned.
"I didn't go home last night, Killian. I'm sure Marry Margrett and David have been looking for me. They're going to be furious." Emma hurriedly explained as she pulled on a pair of boots.
Killian sat up and looked at her, "Love, you know you're putting on your clothes from when we were younger right? How in the world do they even fit you still?"
Emma glanced down at her outfit and felt her mouth open slightly. She was wearing black leather pants, a white blouse, and had even laced up her old red corset. Shaking her head, she ditched the corset for her bra and threw on her red leather jacket.
"Blame the pregnancy these all were adjusted for then." she commented offhandedly.
"Crap I didn't even think about Henry..."
"Don't worry he's still too young. He won't have to deal with it for about another three years."
Killian stood and pulled Emma flushed against him. She kissed him softly as her hands roamed his bare torso. He smirked at her dazed expression as they broke apart. She shook her head and blushed lightly. Killian pulled on his jeans and a black long sleeve.
"Come on Swan. I'll buy you some coffee before work."
"Okay, but you just want a chance to kick David's ass."
He smiled and led her out of the bedroom and down the gang plank. Emma let her head fall to Killian's shoulder and breathed in his comforting scent. The conversation was light as Killian told her another one of his sailing stories.
"One more day," she thought as they walked, "One more day until freedom."
