Upon arriving home and unpacking I was sat down to a 'family' meeting. I looked between my mother, father, and boyfriend and they all looked like they had bad news for me. I folded my hands on my lap. Determined not to let my emotions get the best of me. I looked at my mom knowing she would be the first one to speak.

"We think as a collective group that loves you, that it's time to send you out into the world of magic. There is a lot you don't know, and we think it's best to send you away from the State. Just until things calm down." I looked at them and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop.

"We think it's best if Grey stays..." I felt my heart jump into my throat and the pained look on Grey's face told me that he did not agree.

"I don't think that's a good idea, what if Amanda comes after me again?"

"My mother will teach you to protect yourself, and the farm has plenty of room to use your magic without fear of being noticed. But we think if we send two powerful witches to the same spot to hide out it's asking for trouble." I frowned and tried to keep my wits about me. The last thing I needed was to get heated and then the fire would work up and it would solve nothing. Logic.

"No." I folded my hands back against my lap squeezing them together tightly. They both looked to Grey and he swallowed visibly.

"I need you to go, Evie." It was like a sledgehammer in my heart.

"You can't want me to leave and go halfway across the world without you." I looked at him and his eyes shifted to my mother and father. They were facing him to take their side.

"Of course I don't want you to go, but—"

"Then I'm not going. There is nothing that I can't learn here, with the friends I've made...and the man I love." I turned my chin up and my father looked between Grey and I. He sighed, putting a hand on my mother's shoulder.

"Eve...we just want to protect you. After the talk we all had with Lily concerning your vision we think it's best—" I felt like someone had kicked me in the gut.

"She told you!?" I stood from my chair, and it tipped over behind me and Grey stood as well. And fire well under my skin and I looked between them.

"She didn't have much of a choice considering the matter the vision contained..." My mother moved to touch me and I put my hand up.

"I can't believe this, you are sending me away to protect yourselves...you're afraid of me?!" I looked between my mom and dad. They couldn't bring their eyes to mine and I looked to Grey who had no problem meeting my eyes.

"They aren't afraid OF you. Just the possibility of the future." He rose from his chair and held a hand out to me. I felt betrayed by him siding with my parents, but I reached out and took his hand and he pulled me into his arms and I took a deep breath and the vacuum of travel opened up around us. We stepped in together and we were back in the meadow, I wasn't sure what year it was, but it was still warm. I looked at him and he paced a little way away from me.

"Evie—" I shook my head.

"You can't want me to leave, to go across and ocean without you." He sighed and I plopped down in the sweet-smelling grass.

"It wouldn't be an ocean. You know that it would take me .3 seconds to get to you if you needed me."

"But how will you know if I need you." He touched the charm around his neck and gave me a knowing look.

"Trust me, I will know if you truly need me. You didn't need me when your uncle confronted you. You thought you did, but you didn't. You had that under control mostly, besides it will be good for you to get away from all of this. The stress and everything." He waved a general hand in the air.
