The night was young, and the dark sky was illuminated with aligned stars that shone brighter than any found, polished jewel. Couples peacefully strolled down the beach with hands intertwined while gazing at each other and making promises for the inspiring future that was soon to come. Teenagers and students were messing around, playing the usual games at the arcade and drank until they weren't able to stand on their own two feet, therefor needing a help from a close friend or passerby that could help provide them a safe return to home.
I also longed for that feeling. The domestic touch of something that was mostly achievable.
Ha, yeah right.
The only thing that resembled my babbling imagination was the walk down the sandy pathway. Everything else was practically different. Instead of being wrapped in my date's jacket, I was freezing like a furless cat in Antarctic and my feet were aching for some rest, because of the damn half-size too small sandals. Which, by the way, were full of petite rocks and (mostly likely) accumulated trash from the beach.
"You do realize I can come tomorrow? You know... When it's not cold and my bones won't turn into a popsicle." I gritted my teeth. "Take that as a suggestion." I had made my big declaration of dissatisfaction, the grand speech I had been rehearsing since the ruined diner.
Ah, the silent treatment. Great... Just great... Can somebody remind me why do I always like the mean type of guys? Sanji would at least treat me properly... Karma, you bitch. You just wait, revenge will be sweet.
"Why? Do you want to extend your working hours so badly?" Law mocked, not even turning towards me.
I rolled my eyes. "Jerk. No, though I still don't understand why you need an inexperienced assistant. Are doctors nowadays so poor that they can't even hire decent helpers? Or is this just an excuse to get more patients by the end of the day?"
Managing a deadpan expression, he thoughtfully pressed his lips together. "...That could be the reason."
"Don't give me that half-assed answer!" I yelped, my mouth agape.
"I don't have to give you anything. Y/n-ya, you are the one who owes me, remember?"
"Yeah, yeah, thanks a bunch for saving my little ol' life... and then leaving me in debt. Indeed, my lovely savior."
A savior my ass. I crunched my face in a grimace. Why the hell was I EVEN happy to met him? Gosh, how I would like to throw some punches at my own face. Maybe then I'll come back to my senses.
