Chapter 13

"This guy is literally pushing my buttons." David said, annoyed. His usual calm demeanour was gone and was replaced by a frustrated man that I haven't seen before.

"Which guy?" Daniel said walking down the stairs and yawned.

"You missed meeting that guy by couple of minutes." I said.

"He was here?" Daniel's featured turned dark and annoy.

"Dad brought him,here. I don't understand Dad's motives?" David said. "It's so unlike of him to do things like this."

And I definitely agreed with him.

"With his horrible reputation, I'm curious too." Daniel said.

"What horrible reputation are you talking about?" I asked him.

"Oh,Em." Daniel sighed. "I keep forgetting you are a 26 years old woman, with no social media accounts."

Daniel showed me tabloid and articles of Chase with different women in each one, and some other scandals.

"We all know I don't trust gossips and entertainment industries. They add lies and we all have been there." I said.

"Are you defending him?" David asked.

"More like understanding the situation." I said.

"Doesn't make any sense?" Daniel said.

"He might not be who he shows the world.."

"You are definitely defending him." Daniel said.

"Because we don't know him, except from these stupid articles that might have added their own bias view and assumptions."

"What are you planning to do?" David asked, furrowing his eyebrows at me.

"I'm planning to fulfill the bargain that I made with him."

"You mean, go on a date with him?" Daniel asked.

"Em." David started.

"I have to keep my words." I said interrupting him.

"You don't have to do anything that you don't want."

"I should be fine." I said. "Apart from his unwanted humour and talks, he can be decent."

"Are you sure you bump into him a couple of times? You sound like you know him for a while."

I rolled my eyes at them. "Trust me for once."

Daniel was about to say something, but David said. "We will trust you only on one condition."

Daniel was surprised by what David said.

"What?" I asked.

"If you don't want to do something and he forces you. You have to kick him right at the b*lls and walk out from that relationship."

"It's just a date.." I said. "And I would like to kick his a*s."

"I'm not being funny at the moment."

"I know." I said. "I'm not being funny, either."

"Then, Daniel and I will trust you in whatever you are planning."

"I don't support this." Daniel said looking at David in disbelief.

"I'm here for you." David said putting his hands on my shoulder.

"And so am I.." Daniel said, "Even though I don't think it's a good idea."

That afternoon, after lunch we all gathered around the kitchen to help our mom cook. That's our family thing, cooking and baking together.Mom was frantic and nervous about the Reynolds,coming over.

I found out Chase is the only child in the family. Am I surprise? No.

They came around 6:30 pm. They brought some cupcakes and flowers for us. His whole family was wearing semi formal outfit, while in my family only our parents dressed up. I was in a light pink sweatshirt and fitting jeans and my indoor flip flop. My hair was in a twisted bun, I haven't even shower yet.

Chase smiled politely at my parents and give me a quick wink when no one was looking. I excused myself to go and take a shower quickly before dinner. Even though, I have moved out from this place. Mom made sure my things are still the same in the room, my closet was still the same and so was the pictures.

When I came out of the shower. I dried my hair and got ready to go downstairs. I think I have worn enough dresses and decided to wear a T-shirt and jeans.

Our parents was in the living room, talking about something.. I don't see any of them.

"Honey." Mom said. "We will have dinner in another half an hour."

"Okay."

"Your brothers is giving Chase our house's tour. They should be somewhere." Dad said.

I nodded my head, I'm not going to look for them. I walk quietly upstairs -back to my room. I was sitting on the bed with my leg stretch and was replying to emails when Chase walked into the room.

"Hello there." He said and behind him was David and Daniel who was scowling at him. Chase looked around my room and nodded his head in approval.

I stood up and raised one of my eyebrow at him.

"We were looking for you." Chase said.

"Now that you found me, bye." I said.

Daniel chuckled, he was leaning near the door.

Chase give me an amused look.

"Let's go." David said to Daniel.

"What? Why?"

David give a look and Daniel reluctantly walked out of the door and David give me a nod before walking out and shutting the door behind. I think David trusts me enough to leave him and I alone.

"Nice room." Chase whispered. His feature was softer than before.

"Thank you." I said awkwardly and played with my fingers.

He walked and stood right in front of me. "I just wanted to tell you, I don't want to go on a date with you."

I look up to see him already staring at me.

"What?" I asked, pretty surprised.

"I know you don't want to.." he shrugged. "Forcing things on people is definitely not my thing."

I was quiet for a moment and my snarky self wanted to comment, but lying is definitely one of your thing, then?

But then I don't know if really one of the security measures was to have a stamp or some other proof that were needed.

That makes things much more easier for me, but then why was I feeling upset? My subconscious smirked at me, You really wanted to go on a date with him, didn't you? You sneaky little woman.

"Okay." I said. My pride took over and I put on a blank face.

"But the offer is always valid." He smile at me.

I know he must have noticed the change in my mood, that's why he is being playful.

"I guess we should go down for dinner." I said.

"I promise, after tonight. I won't be bothering you, again." He said and I don't know whether to feel happy or sit in the corner and be upset about it. His mixed signals made me feel uncomfortable. Did he finally realize I'm not his type or as beautiful as the women he have been with. I don't know why I had those thoughts swimming in my head.
