Chapter 26

Chase and I have been getting along quite well these days. He would drop by every now and then to meet me. Even when Daniel came back, he would come over and I think Daniel doesn't mind anymore. At the beginning, yes- but I think he realized that Chase will be around for quite a while and I don't mind his company. He can be annoyingly cute at times, but very gentle and attentive with me. I shared with Daniel about how we will have a new member joining our family, when he returned back from his trip and his eyes widened as he looked at Chase and I.

"We are going to be parents." Chase teased him and I smack him lightly. I should have recorded the look on Daniel'a face. He looked pale and froze in his place.

"We adopted a pet from the shelter home." I said.

When he came back to his senses, he sighed in relief. "I thought I had to break someone's bone." He looked at Chase with a smirk.

They get along just fine, every now and then they do have bickering.. its very amusing though.

Saturday morning, we all gathered in Chase's car. Daniel was very convincing about how he could be of great help as someone might have to sit with our pets at the back of the car and someone have to sit beside Chase to help him with the route. He sat in front with Chase, while I sat at the back when Chase arrive at 6 am that morning. We decided it could be road trip, we can eat breakfast somewhere and head to pick up our pet. I was so excited and Daniel teased me about it.

We had our breakfast at a local diner near the shelter home. We still have quite a lot of times as we go through our plan of how to take our new pet home. I already ordered stuffs for our pets, online and have it delivered and ready at home.

Chase said he have arranged a small home for the pet as well. "I can't be a lousy  parent now, can I?"

Daniel gagged at our conversation. "Why do you guys call yourself parents? What the f^ck."

Chase laughed at his annoyance and Daniel returned it with a deadpan look. We were by the people who was volunteering in the shelter. We had to sign papers and get our new pet's health charts and everything. She was just one months old. Her warm eyes stared back at us. I was already in love with her as I picked her up. I expected her to make some noise, but she just stared back at me.

"Look at her." I said as I held her close to me and she rubbed her head against me.

"May I?" Chase asked with wide-eyes.

"Yes, of course." I said as he took her in. Daniel was careful, watching us closely. I think he is still unsure about having a dog, I know I should have asked him if he was fine with having a pet home. I did informed him, but it was too late. He assured me he was fine with it.

Daniel didn't touch it and when I asked him if he wanted to touch it. He said, not yet. We climbed back in the car and I sat behind with 'buttercup'

Chase came up with that name and it sounded adorable and the puppy responded by barking when we called her buttercup.

When we reached home, I give the puppy a bath with the help of Chase. We were in the large washroom and giving it a bath. Chase was playful, he sprayed water all over me and my mouth dropped opened and I scowled at him. He give me a wolfish grin. I dried, buttercup up with the towel and looked at her eyes, she is so beautiful.

"I'll take her, you should change before you catch a cold." Chase said taking her away from me.

"Well, thanks to someone." I give him a wry look.

"My apologies." He said. "Come, let's get you out of here, buttercup. Mommy is going to come out soon." He kissed buttercup lightly and took her out of the washroom. I had to get a set of clothes and then after changing came out. Buttercup was taking in her new environment and, so far she seemed to be taking it great. She walked around my room and then she came across her bed that was in the room and she climbed onto it and moved around. Chase and I watched her take in the place.

"I must say, your decision of getting a dog is perfect. I have never seen you this happy since I met you." Chase looked at me.

"Thanks for partnering with me." I said. "Even though you didn't have to."

His face was blank for a moment before giving me a smile and my heart melted for a moment.

Daniel coughed awkwardly and we both turned crimson as we turned to look at him.

"Lunch is ready."

"You want to hold her?" I asked Daniel and he shake his head, no.

I fed buttercup some water and foods before we started eating lunch.

"You should look for a boyfriend, now." Daniel said. "I can't believe I'm saying that."

"What about you?" I asked.

"I will manage." He give me a lazy smile. "You need to go out though and socialize, get to know people."

"Uh huh." I said nodding my head as I ate my lunch.

"How about you?" Daniel looked at Chase.

"What about me?" He asked calmly.

"Any girlfriend?"

I didn't make any eye contact with him and turned to look at Buttercup eating her food.

"None." Chase said.

"I would have suggested you two go out with each other, but then I doubt any of you is interested in each other."

I looked at Daniel, where was he going with this.

Daniel give me a wide smile and I raised one of my eyebrow at him.

"I would love to ask Emilia for another date, but I doubt she is interested." Chase said, surprising me. Daniel looked over at Chase.

"I usually wouldn't like the idea about that, but she's twenty six years old. I think she needs to go out and hang out with people and so far, you are not bad."

"Daniel." I muttered under my breath.

"Would you like to go out with me?" Chase asked, his eyes wide and his cheek a little red. He was nervous.

"Okay." I said, trying to be casual but deep down I was excited.

"Perfect." He give me a million dollar smile. "We can go tomorrow? Or next week? Whenever you would like."

"Buttercup." I said looking at the beauty in front of me.

"You guys can go tomorrow. I will watch buttercup for you guys."

"Are you sure?" I asked. "I think we should go next week, When buttercup is more comfortable of the environment and us."

Daniel was about to argue, but then he didn't and Chase nodded his head.

"We should get to know buttercup." I said excitedly.

"Yes, definitely." Daniel said looking at Buttercup with unsure look.

"You will love her." I assure him.

"Of course." He said.

Chase laughed a little. I can't wait for our date even though it will be next week.
