It took the Doctor, Missy, and the Master several hours to form a new plan. In order for everything to work out, though, the Master would need to destroy Gallifrey still, but not upgrade the bodies of the dead Time Lords into Cyber Masters. That way, the events would play out as they were originally supposed to.
As for the Lone Cyberman, the Cyberium, and the Death Particle, though, the plan was a bit more complicated. The Master would need to shrink the Lone Cyberman just as the Doctor landed her TARDIS on the Cyber Carrier. She would then trap the Cyberium in a container that could be broken by none. The Doctor would also need to be sure to grab the Lone Cyberman's shrunken form as well, with the Death Particle still in his chest, of course.
The Doctor and Missy would then bid their farewells, and leave quickly before they were seen by anyone else. The Doctor would then place both deadly items in the very center of the TARDIS. There, they would be found by no one.
"Right," the Doctor rubbed her hands together, "let's do this."
"Everyone understands the plan, right?" Missy questioned.
Both the Master and the Doctor nodded.
"So, see you on the Cyber Carrier?" The Doctor knew they needed to leave soon, before the streets became crowded.
The Master nodded once more. "Yes, I'll see you there. Oh, and don't worry," he added, "I won't try to sabotage this whole thing."
The Doctor nodded, and took Missy's hand in her own. They ran up the stairs, looking up at the dark, starry sky above.
Missy couldn't stop herself from saying something, "I still want to visit every one of them...." she paused, then added, "....with you."
The Doctor felt each of her hearts skip a beat. She looked towards Missy, still holding onto her hand. Her eyes grew misty, as a huge smile grew on her face. The Doctor let Missy's hand fall, and wrapped her arms around her friend in a tight embrace.
Missy hugged her firmly back. Earlier, she had begun feeling something deep within her, something she hadn't felt in quite a long time. It grew stronger now, as she held the Doctor in her arms.
"I'll visit all of the stars with you, Missy," the Doctor whispered. "Every single one of them. I promise."
~
The Master stood at the bottom of the stairs, watching the scene play out. He felt a pain in his hearts so strong, he had to look away.
The Doctor hadn't shown him any affection since their days at the Academy. One of the main reasons he did what he did was because of how heartbroken he had been when she had told him they couldn't be together anymore. If the plan was a success, though, he would get what he had always wanted since then: for the Doctor to care about him, as he had always done for her.
~
Missy and the Doctor made their way speedily back to the TARDIS. The Doctor unlocked the door and pushed open the door. Graham and Ryan were sitting on the floor, eating some crisps. They were watching something on Graham's phone.
Graham looked back and laughed, " Oh, welcome back, Doc! Ya know," he added, "you have really great wifi in here!"
The Doctor put her hands on her hips, as Missy closed the door behind them. "Glad you like the 4k, Graham, but we need to get going."
"Get going?" Ryan interjected, "Didn't you two sort everything out?"
"We had a little change of plans," Missy answered. "We need to go to the Cyber Carrier."
Graham looked confused. "Why would we need to go back there?"
"To retrieve the Cyberium, and the Death Particle," the Doctor explained.
"Why didn't the first plan work out?" Ryan asked.
The Doctor answered quickly, as Missy set the TARDIS controls to land in the right place. "It was flawed."
With the dematerialization lever pulled, they began traveling to their destination.
~
The TARDIS didn't make a whooshing noise as it landed, due to Missy being the pilot, and not leaving the brakes on. This was actually very convenient, as they didn't draw any unneeded attention to themselves.
"Right," the Doctor said, grabbing the heavy container, "let's finish what I started."
Missy ran over quickly as the Doctor opened the door. The Master was in sight, the Lone Cyberman already shrunken. The Cyberium was floating around, looking for a new host. It looked like liquid metal that was defying gravity.
The Doctor sprinted over to the floating, metallic AI. She quickly, and easily, scooped it up into the container, and placed the lid over it. The container shook violently for a moment, then stilled.
"Well, that was easier than I expected...." The Doctor was staring at the container, as if it were to burst open at any moment.
"Here," the Master handed the Lone Cyberman's shrunken form to the Doctor. It was covered in some sort of crude oil. "Now, go."
The Doctor smiled slightly. "Thanks," she replied.
Missy had been standing by the door of the TARDIS the entire time. The Doctor rushed back into the TARDIS, and Missy closed the door.
~
"My memories are beginning to come back," Missy assured, as the Doctor placed the two crucially important items into the compartment the TARDIS had made specifically for them.
The Doctor sealed the compartment. "That's nice," was all she said.
Missy looked concerned. "Is something wrong, Doctor?"
"I'm....just a bit tired," she sighed.
Suddenly, Missy had a thought, "Hey, how about I play you something on the piano, just like you asked?"
The Doctor looked at Missy, and smiled. "That'd be nice."
~
The Doctor watched as Missy's fingers brushed over the black and white keys. The piece she had decided to play was Franz Liszt's 'Liebesträume.'
Missy closed her eyes, and focused on the growing feeling within her as she played. She didn't know why before, but soon realized why she had chosen this song.
Leaning slightly on the piano, the Doctor closed her eyes as well. She wanted to savor this moment, to remember the beautiful notes that her friend was playing for her.
The moment seemed to go on for forever. A tear rolled down the Doctor's cheek, as Missy finished the piece. They stayed silent for a bit, not wanting to ruin the moment.
"That was lovely," the Doctor whispered.
Missy's hearts were beating fast. "Want to know why I chose that piece?"
"Why?" The Doctor asked, intrigued.
"Because...." Missy sighed, "....being with you is like being in a dream."
The Doctor knew that 'Liebesträume' meant 'Love Dreams.' "What about the 'love' part?" The Doctor questioned.
"I...." Missy couldn't say the words.
The Doctor nodded, understandingly. "It's okay, I know." She smiled.
Missy smiled back. Everything had worked out, almost too perfectly. She wouldn't let it bother her, though. After all, now she had a trillion stars to visit, all with the Doctor by her side.
