As soon as Hiram saw Veronica, his being filled with rage. He stalked over to her, forcefully grabbing her shoulder. "Veronica, what do you think you're doing here?" He hissed.
Veronica slowly turned to face her father. "I could ask you the same, Daddy," she remarked, spitting out the last word like a sour cherry. "And I bet my answer's better than yours," She speculated.
"Whatever scheme you've cooked up, it ends right now," Hiram commanded lowly.
Veronica wasn't fazed by her father's harsh threat. "Sorry, Daddykins," She appologised, sarcasm laced in your voice. "But this is gonna hurt you a lot more than it will me." With that, she brought her knee up, jamming it right between Hiram's legs. He doubled over in pain, while Veronica backed away.
With her father taken care of, Veronica held up two fingers and rotated them downwards, making eye contact with Reggie and Josie across the arena. The signal.
On her mark, the two shook up the soda cans while Veronica popped the top of the one she possessed. Immediately after, they hurled them into the ring, creating a cloud of smoke that filled the building and blocked views of the pit in mere seconds.
As soon as the deed was done, Josie, Reggie, and Veronica disappeared. Archie slipped into the grate, backed up by Maddog, his former room mate. From the railing above, Hiram's angry voice filled the room. "Warden, he's getting away!"
As the guards rushed down to the pit floor, Archie raced through the tunnels, desperate to reach Betty and phase four of the plan: the escape.
In perfect timing, he reached Betty just as she cracked open the lock on the grate door.
"Archie," Betty called, swininging open the metal door. She grabbed him by the armpits and hoisted him out of the grate and on to the grass. Once safely on solid ground, she giggled with relief, holding Archie's face in her hands.
"Betty," Archie greeted, gasping with effort.
She smiled down at him. "Hi."
"What took you so long?" He inquired.
"I could ask you the same thing," She replied, glancing over the boy's state.
Archie reached behind him, pulling a jacket from under his head. "Are these clothes for me?" He asked.
"Oh my God," Betty gasped, finding the place where Archie had been shivved just an hour before. "You're bleeding." Archie covered up her hand with his own as he writhed in pain. Betty pressed Archie's hand too his wound as she began to move him around. "Here, put pressure on it," She instructed. "Here, come here," Betty finished, putting the jacket under Archie's arm and once again smiling down at him.
Five minutes later, a boy and a girl on a motorcycle raced past Warden Norton in the arena parking lot, where he stood beside his hand unusable car.
"What the hell are you waiting for?" He raged, turning to his guards, and pointing at the retreating motorcycle. "Go after them!"
The guard's motorcycles were faster than the one the two road. They caught up quickly. However, the couple did not stop, instead choosing to go forward and bring their cycle to the breaking point.
It seemed that they might escape, until they came to a fork in the road, where police cars covered up the only other exits. Behind them, the guards on motor cycles blocked the path from which they came.
However, the riders removed their helmets, and much to the dismay of their pursurers, it is not Betty Cooper and Archie Andrews, but Caia Sinclair and Kevin Keller.
